TEHRAN, Sep. 12 (MNA) – Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman has warned that Britain is likely to sink in the next few years.
Medvedev said London’s promises of a century-long partnership with the Kiev government were lies, because Ukraine is unlikely to last even a quarter of this term.
“Britain’s Foreign Secretary David Lammy has promised Ukraine 100 years of support. 1) He is lying. 2) So-called Ukraine will not last a quarter of that time. 3) The island called Britain is likely to sink in the next few years.”
“Our hypersonic missiles will help if necessary,” Medvedev wrote on the X social network.

Former Russian president and now Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev has a habit of making menacing and vaguely threatening statements. This one is no different but it is interesting in that it reveals some of the thinking that might be going on behind the scenes in the Kremlin.
Putin himself has warned that if Ukraine uses longer-range Western-supplied missiles to strike Russia it will be seen as an act of war:
“It would mean that NATO countries, the US, European countries, are at war with Russia,” he told state media.
The thing is this isn’t happening by accident. By giving Ukraine the go-ahead to strike Russia with weapons it has supplied, the West has deliberately taken another step toward direct military conflict with Russia.
Moreover, former adviser to President Putin, Sergei Markov, told Tonight with Andrew Marr that the Russian leader would be prepared to strike airfields in NATO countries if Western supplied missiles are used by Ukraine to strike Russia.
“Russia will strike the airfields where the F16s are based,” he said, pointing to the fighter jets used to launch the Anglo-French missiles.
“Not in Ukraine, but in airfields in Romania and Poland,” he added.
If Russia decides to take more decisive action Britain would also not be left unscathed.
As Dmitry Medvedev’s statement indicates, Moscow has identified perceived vulnerabilities in the British Isles. Much of it, particularly the southern coastal region would under the right conditions be susceptible to flooding.
Although Medvedev is probably being deliberately misleading when he says that Russia’s “hypersonic missiles will help if necessary.” The Russians have a weapon that is specifically designed for just such a task.

The deadly Poseidon nuclear torpedo would be ideal for use against Britain’s naval bases on its southern coast.
The fact that Medvedev has focused on Britain’s perceived point of vulnerability suggests that discussions have been going on in the Kremlin on how best to exploit this. A couple of Poseidons targeted at naval bases on Britain’s south coast would also wreak havoc on southern England that could reach as a far north as London and Bristol.
So it wouldn’t just be Britain’s main naval bases that would be affected. Large parts of a densely populated southern England would be inundated. Resulting in a massive loss of life, possibly amounting to millions or even tens of millions, together with a crippled military/industrial capacity.
Thus a couple of Poseidon strikes would end Putin’s problems with Britain almost overnight. Ed.
