This guy and the other one (ex General?) who’s name I can’t remember just now, have been calling the end of Ukraine war since a few months after the start.
I suppose one day they will be right, but they don’t seem to exactly have a crystal ball when it comes to these things.

Scott Ritter is brilliant at clarifying a situation. I came away from this interview convinced by his argument that Netanyahu’s self concern is preventing a cease-fire in this context. He is very plausible also on the point that the US will not engage in any offensive move that Netanyahu might make against Iran. And he did not hesitate to be straight-down-the-line on the point that any anti-Israel move on the part of a contender for the US presidency will destroy that contender’s chance of election. So we cannot look to any future US president ‘s helpful intervention here.
So who can intervene to force a ceasefire that will stop the continuing mass murder of the people of Gaza? Interestingly, neither the interviewer nor Scott mentioned President Putin. This gives me pause for thought. Russia would gain enormously from a solid footing in the Gulf States context. Or are the rich Gulf Arab States too invested in the US to welcome a Russian intervention? How do they square this with their Allah, I wonder.

Two Asian men charged with murder of three children and their mother in Bradford house fire
Bryonie Gawith, aged 29, and her three children – Denisty Birtle, aged nine, Oscar Birtle, five, and 22-month-old Aubree Birtle – died after a fire broke out at their home in Westbury Road in the early hours of last Wednesday.
Six days later, West Yorkshire Police have announced that 44-year-old Mohammed Shabir and 25-year-old Calum Sunderland – both from Keighley, – have been charged with four counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
Four other people remain under investigation, including a 39-year-old man who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Detectives executed a number of warrants in the Keighley area of the city on Friday, the force said. Amanda McInnes, of the Crown Prosecution Service for Yorkshire and Humberside, said: “Our thoughts remain with the friends and family of Bryonie and her children.
“We remind all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendants are active and that they have a right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary, or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
