In his video yesterday Alex Christoforou said Russia’s demand to Pavel Durov was to hold the data of all Russians inside Russia only, to comply with Russia’s new data laws, and not to hold that data on servers outside Russia where it’s easier for the US and the west to access them through lawfare. Durov refused to comply with that law and decided to leave the country.
Now he’s in touch with Russian officials again over his arrest. It seems Russia has its advantages after all, now he’s discovered that for all its prospects of uber-wealth the west is now near-totalitarian.
