If there is one God there are many, and they have better to do than concern themselves with mortals. I think the pagans were closer to the truth. Their belief system said ghosts were spirits of the ancestors, as well as accounting for the spirits of higher animals and also nature spirits or elementals. None of the main three religions allow for any of spectres, except once in the Old Testament, where the spirit of long-dead prophet Samuel was summoned by the Witch of Endor much to his annoyance.
The Holy Bible was written by men over centuries. It no more proves God exists than JM Barrie’s Peter Pan proves fairies exist. Christianity was constructed the Romans to keep their power base in Rome after their collapsing military empire became too much to rule by force; so they created a book like the Jews did to maintain social control, by getting into peoples’ minds. It was so good it convinced people not to expect much in life as you’ll get your rewards after you die. That’s f**king genius!
