Note to readers: The latest information is that the earliest I can expert Internet service to be restored is Monday August 19. I hope to be able to post on August 20. It will have taken high tech superpower America a week to restore my Internet service. The outage was not caused by a storm or any act of nature.
Twenty years ago at a conference in Washington DC I said that the combination of jobs offshoring with the importation of millions of third world immigrants would result in the US becoming a third world country in two decades. Sending good jobs out while bringing poor people in eventually makes poverty the norm. My prediction was on the mark. Nothing in America any longer works, including the people.
In the autumn of 1963 when I arrived at Oxford University, it was possible to mail a first class letter to London in the morning and receive a reply that afternoon. I expressed astonishment, but the English complained that until recently they had been able to send a morning letter and receive a reply by noon, and to send a noon letter and receive a reply that afternoon.
In 2024 it took the US Post Office one month and 10 days to deliver my tax return to the IRS. Currently a Priority Mail letter that I sent almost a month ago to a US destination 300 miles away has not been delivered.
In every blue city there are large areas in which white Americans do not enter.
America has become a third world entity with collapsing infrastructure including communications and a government concerned only with power.
His own economic model adored by Reagan and Thatcher accelerated the decline of western civilisation. The economy was a tool that served society, until PCR turned that on its head and now society serves the economy, greatly enriching those who hold the purse strings. It moved the bulk of the money into the hands of that few and left the rest of us struggling to survive on ever-diminishing incomes, while ever-increasing sums go to that same few who have taken for themselves enough money to last many lifetimes.

Old-timers around here remember it well. Delivery 2 times a day, once on Saturday, and same-day delivery to areas quite far by today’s standard.
Right now it takes a week to get it from my little town to a slightly bigger town 30 miles away. I am reliably informed that if I put the letter in the morning box it would not only get to the other town, but I would receive a reply by late afternoon on the same day. 60 years ago…
As service went down, prices went up. As ever as always.
I was reading that, and then it suddenly stopped. The Right have always said that if you import Third World people you will become a Third World country
First off, PCR didn’t predict anything. A prediction is an event that’s unexpected. 20 plus years ago on here, I was stating as fact that Amerika and Britain would collapse.
The next point, the mail does take longer, but quite a bit goes to opening centers or is scanned where the contents are read.
The main reason why postal times have increased, it out a premium on time, so other cost layers can be introduced.

destined for central america . from F goes only to New York .
there is stored + collecting other mail up to at least half month.
then goes to centralamerica . I think a letter from south germany
could go faster from Munich over Madrid to Brazil .
