  4.  » UK election live updates: Labour Party wins enough seats to form majority government

Introduction – July 5, 2024

As expected, Britain’s Labour Party has secured a sweeping win in the general election. The last time Labour won such an emphatic win was on May 2, 1997, under Tony Blair and we know where what led to: wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Will this win for Starmer be any different?

We suspect that the only difference now will be where the wars are located.

Two hotspots are currently brewing: Israel and Ukraine. Britain is already involved in supplying arms, weapons and intelligence to Ukraine. Under Starmer this won’t change and may even increase.

Regarding Israel, expect to see an increase in support for the Zionist state. Like Joe Biden, Starmer’s wife is Jewish and his children are being raised as Jews. This gives the Zionist state an agent of influence right at the heart of political power in Britain.

This may explain why Starmer has been so reluctant to condemn Israeli actions in Gaza. He was brought in to replace Jeremy Corbyn, who was seen as a threat by the Jewish establishment, and since then he’s done what he was expected to do: protect Jewish interests.

Meaning that we will likely see an increase in support for Israel from Britain under Starmer, politically and maybe even militarily. Ed.

The Associated Press – July 5, 2024

The Labour Party has officially won enough seats in the UK’s 2024 general election to have a majority in parliament, as vote counting continues. Labour Leader Keir Starmer will become prime minister and can form a majority government.

What to know:

  • Latest results: As of 5 a.m. GMT Friday, the Labour Party had won 326 of the 650 seats in the UK parliament, securing a majority.
  • Sunak concedes: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the British people have “delivered a sobering verdict,” and conceded that the Labour Party has won the election.
  • Notable wins: Nigel Farage, the leader of the hard-right Reform UK party, won a seat after seven failed election attempts. Jeremy Corbyn, who led the Labour Party into the general elections of 2017 and 2019, has held onto his seat in north London — but this time as an independent.

Former Prime Minister Liz Truss and other senior Conservatives lose seats

Sylvia Hui, Pan Pylas – July 5, 2024

Liz Truss, the former prime minister whose premiership lasted just 49 days, has lost her lawmaker’s seat in the election.

Truss lost her Norfolk South West seat to Labour by just several hundred votes.

Several other high-profile and senior Conservative lawmakers also lost their seats, including House of Commons leader Penny Mordaunt.

Mordaunt lost her Portsmouth North seat in the south of England to Labour’s Amanda Martin by fewer than 1,000 votes.

Mordaunt came to international attention during King Charles III’s coronation when she held a large sword aloft through the ceremony.

Others who lost seats included education secretary Gillian Keegan and former business secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg.
