The mainstream media is full of lamentations over President Biden’s performance in his presidential debate with Donald Trump.

The Worst Debate Performance in American History

Across the West the media reacted with shock and dismay to President Biden’s performance. Indeed, Biden’s showing was so dismal that some Democratic Party insiders are now calling for his replacement as a candidate in the upcoming U.S. presidential election.

This writer is not a Trump supporter and neither does he back Biden. However, there is no getting around the fact that Thursday night’s presidential debate was an unmitigated disaster for Biden and it only confirms what many have been saying for some time.

In essence, Biden is a senile old man, who shouldn’t be anywhere near the levers of power. And that is being charitable because it overlooks all the various charges of corruption and conflict of interest that have been leveled against him.

Or was it when he was talking, and out came a thin, reedy whisper of a voice, one that could not command the viewer’s attention, even when the words themselves made good sense?

For anyone who cares about the future of the United States and therefore, thanks to that country’s unmatched power, the future of the world, it was agonising to watch. You found yourself glancing ever more frequently at the clock, desperate for it to end, if only on humanitarian grounds: it seemed cruel to put a man of visible frailty through such an ordeal.
