Canada urges citizens to leave Lebanon citing unpredictable security situation

Canada on Tuesday reiterated a call for its citizens to leave Lebanon while they can, saying the security situation in the country was becoming increasingly volatile and unpredictable due to the conflict between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah.
“My message to Canadians has been clear since the beginning of the crisis in the Middle East: it is not the time to travel to Lebanon. And for Canadians currently in Lebanon, it is time to leave, while commercial flights remain available,” Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said in a statement.

The US Embassy in Beirut on Thursday advised American citizens to avoid traveling to Lebanon amid growing border tensions with Israel.
The embassy said that Americans should not travel to southern Lebanon, the border area with Syria and refugee settlements amid fears of a full-blown war between Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah.
“We remind US citizens to strongly reconsider travel to Lebanon. The security environment remains complex and can change quickly,” it added in a security alert.
The embassy said the Lebanese government can’t guarantee the protection of US citizens against sudden outbreaks of violence and armed conflict.
Germany Calls on its Citizens to Leave Lebanon Immediately

Germany on Wednesday urged its citizens to leave Lebanon as soon as possible due to the risk of escalating violence between Israel and Hezbollah.
Israel and Hezbollah have traded near-daily cross-border fire since the Hamas October 7 attack on Israel sparked the war in the Gaza Strip.
Tensions have been rising in recent days with growing exchanges of fire.
On Wednesday, Berlin’s foreign ministry updated its travel guidance for the country, saying: “German nationals are urgently requested to leave Lebanon.”
