I tend to disagree with Scott’s initial analysis. Would any Palestinian deliberately invite the amount of inevitable destruction on its own people? It seems to me more likely that that the reports that Hamas was originally set up by Israeli intelligence as “controlled opposition” is the case, and the incursion on 7th October was deliberately staged as an excuse to invade Gaza, There were reports that the Israeli Defence Forces had been withdrawn from that specific area three days prior to the incursion, and we were led to believe that the defensive structure was monitored 24/7 such that a dog couldn’t cock it’s leg against the fence without it being observed. And yet a Hamas brigade waltz up in broad daylight and break through!
