I’m not convinced conscription in Britain is a real Tory policy, especially coming so soon after the election was announced and is just weeks away. Along with the Tory promise to cut taxes for the richest I suspect the idea is to push voters away from the Tory Party where it will just be a wasted vote, and toward Keir Starmer’s Labour Party because he’s TPTB’s choice to lead briefly but he’s unpopular so he needs votes.
