The deputy defense establishment comptroller, Brig. Gen. Yogev Bar Sheshet, was moderately wounded by gunfire shrapnel in Gaza City on Friday, the military says.
Bar Sheshet had been with the Nahal Infantry Brigade chief’s forward command team in the Zeitoun neighborhood.
He is the most senior IDF officer to be wounded during fighting in the Gaza Strip amid the war.
Five Nahal soldiers were killed fighting Hamas in Zeitoun on Friday.

Brig. Gen. Yogev Bar Sheshet can consider himself fortunate that he was only ‘moderately wounded’. The previous commander of the Nahal Brigade, Col.Jonathan Steinberg was killed in clashes with Hamas on Oct 8 last year.
Note also that five other members of the Nahal Brigade were killed the day that Brig. Gen. Bar Sheshet visited the Brigade’s forward command team.
The fact that the Israelis are taking casualties at such a high level indicates that the IDF has met very determined resistance with good intelligence. Ed.

But at least he had the nuts to get close enough to the action to get “moderately wounded”, whatever the f*ck that means…Could be he choked on an olive in his martini, or his balls pinched by some poor Palestinian kid he was trying to rape.
