Iran recently introduced a new, enhanced version of its Bavar-373 long-range air defense system that Tehran officials claim can intercept American stealth jet fighters.
The domestically produced Bavar-373 first went into service for the Iranian armed forces in 2019, and its capabilities have drawn comparisons to Russia’s S-300 mobile, long-range surface-to-air missile systems and to the U.S.-made Patriot systems.
Iran unveiled the newest iteration of the Bavar-373 during an April 17 military parade. The weapon’s debut comes as tensions between Iran and Israel continue after Tehran responded to an alleged Israeli strike on an Iranian embassy in Syria by launching drones and missiles toward Israel on April 13 in an attack that was mostly thwarted.
In describing the upgraded Bavar-373’s presence in last week’s parade, the military news outlet Special Operations Forces Report (SOFREP) called the reworked system “a significant development for Iran’s defense industry, showcasing both its growing self-sufficiency and its aspirations for a more advanced air defense network.”
SOFREP noted that Iranian officials have made “bold claims” about the new Bavar-373, including that the system now “matches or even surpasses” the capabilities of Russia’s advanced S-400 missile system.
But perhaps Iran’s most significant claim is that the latest Bavar-373 can intercept fifth-generation fighter aircraft like Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Lightning jets, which are equipped with stealth technology designed to evade radar detection.
“Additionally, Iranian sources report that the upgraded Bavar-373 boasts enhanced target detection and tracking abilities, allowing it to identify up to 100 aerial targets simultaneously and engage multiple threats with its Sayyad-4B missile armament,” SOFREP wrote.
Newsweek reached out to Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs via email on Monday for comment.
The military website listed the updated Bavar-373’s reported capabilities as having an “impressive” range that exceeds 186 miles and an altitude reach of 75 miles.
SOFREP added that Iran’s claims about the Bavar-373 have not been independently verified and that “real-world testing” is needed before truly evaluating its capabilities.
“Despite the need for cautious interpretation, the unveiling of the upgraded Bavar-373 underscores a critical point: Iran’s defense sector is demonstrably maturing,” SOFREP said.
The outlet attributed the growth in Iran’s defense sector to international sanctions, which forced Tehran to dedicate more resources to domestic weapons development.
According to SOFREP, another reason is that “Iran has a history of strategic collaborations with countries like Russia and China.
“Though potentially tempered by international sanctions, these collaborations have provided Iran with valuable technology transfer and expertise in areas like missile technology and air defense systems.”
SOFREP continued by saying the unveiling of the upgraded Bavar-373 in last week’s parade could have been done to send “a potent message of deterrence aimed at potential adversaries, particularly in the context of the Middle East’s complex geopolitical landscape.”

“… to send “a potent message of deterrence aimed at potential adversaries, particularly in the context of the Middle East’s complex geopolitical landscape.”
Translation: jews beware!
A good weapon to take out F-35s is one that can make it rain.
Larry Johnson says on his site that Pepe Escobar has confirmed with three sources Israel did send a nuke aboard a F-35 to nuke Iran which was then shot down by Russia. I’ve not read the piece nor watched the video yet with him and Pepe, so until I do I lean towards misinformation to try discredit the alt-media. If true then it’s just stunning and will show the world the danger posed to it by the Zio-state.

Looks good on paper and sounds even better on the internet but where is it when you really need it?
Iran, if they actually had such a system, would no doubt deploy it at their most sensitive valuable sites like the nuke facility at Isfahan which Israel struck just the other day. And it’s no coincidence they took out the S-300 (best system Iran has) guarding that nuke facility (aka) message sent. And until Iran actually does shoot down an F-15 or F-16, much less F-35 or F-22 it will remain just so much noise.
The Israelis may claim to have struck Isfahan but did they really? Or is that yet more Israeli propaganda? We have yet to see any hard evidence that they actually did. Much less that they took out an S-300, (which is NOT Iran’s most advanced system).
Sounds like you’ve been listening to more Israeli propaganda broadcast via the Western mainstream media, which the Zionists own.
“Iran Unveils New Weapon Capable of Taking Out America’s Stealth Jets” … Well then, since the “stealth jets” of Americunt Jewnited States are the same stealth jets satanic Israhell uses, courtesy of the Americunt taxpaying worker-slaves, Iran should be incinerating every Israhelli plane that crosses her border without hesitation. Syria should invest in a few batteries of them as well….
As viable as any of the other reports and theories out there in WWW land. In my view more viable than 90% of them due to the facts of the ongoing nature of Israel striking at will anywhere in the ME for the last few decades with zero aircraft losses. Syria, including Damascus, Aleppo, Latakia. Beirut, Iraq, Yemen, etc. For decades and the patterns and tactics are apparent.
“The attack on Isfahan, home to several key nuclear facilities, was not apparently meant to cause damage to the air base, but rather to send a message to Iran that the Israeli military can strike deep in its territory.”
Nothing happened in Isfahan. 3 quadcopters were sent by internal elements and they were destroyed by the air-defense. Such very small drones can’t carry much explosives and have a short range. They used the same quadcopter before and it hit the anti-drone mesh on the roof of the building, people took videos of it, drone exploded with a very sudden bright flash of light but it was clear the explosion was very weak more like fireworks; then their mass-media went crazy that Zion has attacked in the heart of Iran! So back then people took videos, if there were any explosions you’d see many videos of it from different angles and Iran does not have a Military Censorship Unit like Zion has! The darkness under the S300 radar that was visible in the Satellite photos turned out to be the shadow of the camo net. So indeed they achieved nothing and they are now ridiculed by most of the world… despite their mass-media power their recent defeats are such that they can’t do anything! In contrast people of the world in particular Muslims are very happy with Iran and this has had a huge boost for Iran and the Resistance Axis.
It is clear in the Arab speaking social media platforms and other global platforms but to give you two very recent examples: Raisi visited Pakistan, Pakistanis got a day off, a street in the capital city of Islamabad was named “Iran Avenue”, they greeted Raisi with Farsi poems and later people expressed their utmost support for Iran. Pakistan also signed the pipeline project that was delayed due to US pressure. When Raisi visited Sri Lanka a similar thing happened, the banner at the hydroelectric and irrigation project that was build by Iran there thanked Raisi and called him “Lion of the middle east!” In contrast Erdogan’s Turkey and Jordan’s King Abdullah look really bad!
