There must be thousands of these ‘bible stories’ around. They had almost become a literary genre in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Reading the Bible itself (whatever version) was for a while abandoned in Roman Catholic schools, and in the Protestant Sunday Schools.
The point of these bible stories was to make the Bible much more accessible to people. Nowadays, that ‘accessibility’ plea has been abandoned: Bible study is resumed. The problem with the fiction-style interpretations of the Bible was the obvious one: interpretive writing comes up with meanings that are not acceptable to the priestly classes as valid meanings.
There really is no point in getting excited about these stories. They are always just stories. And none of them was written by a contemporary of Jesus Christ or his apostles. Scholarship would know about it if there is even a chance that a manuscript has been unearthed that is a valuable documentation of a period of history.

If you have read the Old Testament you will see the very clear pattern of God punishing the people for the sins of their leaders. The passage from Matthew seems to be the “third rail” – if you will – for the world, including and especially Christians, both for true believers and for “professors of the faith”. No one will speak about it. No one will touch it. No one can believe it is or even could be true. It has been vastly watered down in one way or the other.

Not just the Bible but tons of archeological finds are now known to be fake.
The Flavius Josephus interpolation was considered “historical proof of Jesus” a century ago until German textual analysis proved it was a much later fraud. This has not stopped evangelicals from calling it genuine.
History is subject to falsifiability. So has this text been rigorously examined by forensic science? Does the work hold up against actual Roman era correspondence?
Why are Christians playing with idols such as this anyway? Jesus is taken on faith or not at all. If you need secular history to prove it, you have no faith.

This “letter” suggests that Pontius Pilate himself had God-like prescience. Not only did he whitewash many of the crimes of Roman Empire before they had committed most of them (by describing the…ahem… Roman Government’s “love of justice”) but he also foretold the saviour’s name change from “Jehoshua” to “Jesus” by the yet to even exist Spanish empire over 1600 years later.

There must be thousands of these ‘bible stories’ around. They had almost become a literary genre in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Reading the Bible itself (whatever version) was for a while abandoned in Roman Catholic schools, and in the Protestant Sunday Schools.
The point of these bible stories was to make the Bible much more accessible to people. Nowadays, that ‘accessibility’ plea has been abandoned: Bible study is resumed. The problem with the fiction-style interpretations of the Bible was the obvious one: interpretive writing comes up with meanings that are not acceptable to the priestly classes as valid meanings.
There really is no point in getting excited about these stories. They are always just stories. And none of them was written by a contemporary of Jesus Christ or his apostles. Scholarship would know about it if there is even a chance that a manuscript has been unearthed that is a valuable documentation of a period of history.

The passage from Matthew seems to be the “third rail” – if you will – for the world, including and especially Christians, both for true believers and for “professors of the faith”. No one will speak about it. No one will touch it. No one can believe it is or even could be true. It has been vastly watered down in one way or the other.
Both of these parts of scripture differ with what was stated in this document, wherever it came from. But no single part of scripture can be understood without knowing the rest of the Word of God, the Bible. It all has to be taken together because the Bible is not just a book of moralisms or a place where we can find something to support us in an argument which we are having.
