The Israeli armed forces deny harming medical personnel.
Palestinian medical staff say they were blindfolded, forced to undress and repeatedly beaten by Israeli soldiers after the raid on Nasser’s hospital. This is reported by the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC.
Israeli soldiers stormed a hospital in Khan Yunis in the southern part of the Gaza Strip on February 15.
One doctor at the hospital says he was detained for a week. According to the doctor, muzzled dogs were placed on him and an Israeli soldier also broke his arm.
Two other doctors tell the BBC that they were humiliated, beaten, doused with cold water and forced to kneel in an uncomfortable position for hours. They say they were detained for days before being released.
Thecorporatiom investigated the events of the hospital and spoke to doctors, nurses and refugees who had to leave their homes in the hospital yard. The BBC also says it has cross-checked the details of these accounts.
The BBC has obtained the names of 49 Nasser hospital staff who are said to have been detained. 26 of them were named from several sources.
The International Committee of the Red Cross has told the BBC that it has received dozens of calls from people who have said that their family members who worked at Nasser’s hospital are now missing.
The BBC reported of having provided details of the reports to the Israeli armed forces. They did not respond directly to the things told by the nursing staff or deny certain allegations of bad treatment. However, the armed forces denied that the hospital’s medical staff had been harmed during the operation.
According to the Israeli Armed Forces, any kind of abuse of prisoners is against the regulations of the armed forces and is therefore strictly prohibited.
In connection with its story, the BBC published footage that had been shot secretly in the hospital on the same day the medical staff were arrested. The picture shows a row of men in their underwear, kneeling in front of the hospital’s emergency room. Men’s hands are behind the head. In front of some of the men, you can see the clothes of the medical staff.
