One of my favorite art subjects in history is assuredly The Temptation of Saint Anthony. For nearly a thousand years, this theme inspired countless works of art, each providing a unique interpretation of a story that is both timeless and universal. Although Saint Anthony is mostly known in Orthodox and Catholic churches, his story is relatable to every single human on earth. And it revolves around one theme: Resisting temptation.
Saint Anthony the Great (not to be confused with other Saint Anthonys such as Anthony of Padua) was born in the year 251. He lived most of his life in Egypt until the venerable age of 105 years.
Anthony is mostly known for enduring supernatural temptation during his sojourn in the Eastern Desert of Egypt. According to Athanasius, the devil fought Anthony by afflicting him with boredom, laziness, and the phantoms of women, which he overcame through the power of prayer. There are also tales of him being attacked by demons who appeared to him in the shape of wild beasts.
These accounts of beasts, dreams, visions, demons, and earthly temptations inspired some of the most bizarre, surreal, and imaginative paintings in art history. In every case, Saint Anthony resists temptation while remaining fateful and unphased. We need to be more like him.

It is unbelievable that today, 90 years after Hitler rose to power and almost 80 years since jewish crimes were exposed to the world, we are seeing jews insulted at levels that I have never witnessed before in my lifetime.
At the same time we have seen a stark rise in child sex crimes and many young people are feeling isolated and frightened.

And so much of the vitriol we have seen over recent months has taken place and been amplified on social media platforms.

OK, if you’re a “Christian” (you know, a follower of the book written by Roman lawyer jews 400 years after the fact, with nearly 1000 directly contradictory statements?)… do you have a painting of Jesus throwing the money-lenders out of the temple?
How about a painting of a German Tiger tank crossing the border into Poland (which used to be Germany), driving over the 57000 bodies of dead Germans killed in the ethnic cleansing before the war?
These might be a bit more productive with regard to our current problems…actual economic, etc. real life problems… and the tax slaves just might have time to learn some real spirituality.

There is no beginning and there is no end…there is only now…this moment! Time and space, each the measure of the other, in reality, do not exist, for if they did, one without the other would be meaningless; therefore, neither does their child, motion, exist. It is all just an illusion!
The word God is a creation created by humankind in a futile effort for humankind to understand that which can’t be understood, which can’t ever be known, can’t be seen, touched, felt or anything else. It just is!
This unknown being/spirit/divine entity is the only One – the only thing – in existence. Therefore, it is NOTHING and yet it is SOMETHING. It is everything there can ever possibly be throughout eternity…forever and ever. It is every thought, every breath, every one of the possible trillions of atoms, subatomic particles, worlds, solar systems, constellations, galaxies and Universes, etc., etc.
It is all-powerful…it is the power and the glory, the wisdom and creative fury. Yet it is like a little innocent child. And like an innocent child, it just wants one thing…unconditional love!
Love this child with all your heart and then everything is yours. To love this child all you have to do is ‘pray’ to it! Talk to it how you would talk to a child that you love and see what happens!❤

St. Anthony knew how to live- and this is no joke.
Saint Anthony of Egypt is closely associated with the disease ergotism. In his hagiographies, he was said to have the ability to miraculously cure skin diseases. Ergotism causes gangrene and severe peeling of the outer layers of the skin.
Ergot is a disease of cereal crops but the blighted corn kernals are easily identifiable, approaching harvest time. Ergotism is the result of long-term ergot poisoning. A healthy individual with sufficient Vitamin A in their diet, needn’t become ill from ingesting the Ergot fungus.
Saint Anthony, an ascetic, was said to subsist on a diet of bread, water and salt. Additionally, he fasted for prolonged periods. It is known that malnourished individuals are much more susceptible to Ergot poisoning, especially so, if there is no source of Vitamin A, such as dairy produce, in their diet.
Most of you will know that the synthetic hallucinogen, LSD was synthesized from Ergot.
Ergotism, like LSD, causes hallucinatory psychosis and mania. The afflicted may see demons, satyrs and be tempted by voluptuous nymphs. They may hear internally generated voices externalized.
Saint Anthony was most likely off his rocker on lysergic acid. Perhaps, even deliberately ingesting diseased bread in some kind of shamanistic endurance rite. That Ergotism is a mental endurance test, there is no doubt.
Poor Anthony would have honestly believed that fiends from hell were mocking him. I’m not sure that he was such a noble exemplar, as Vigilant Citizen believes.
My message to you all this Christmas is do unto others as you would have done unto yourself. Be as happy as you can be and remember that we only have one year remaining, before the end of the Kali Yuga and the return of blessed hope.
