Not again. Surely, not again. That was the first thought. The second was fear, worry and concern all rolled into one for a dedicated professional footballer fighting for his life.
Tom Lockyer lay prone on the turf with play continuing at the other end of the field. His manager, Rob Edwards, sprinted on to the pitch, aware that we were witnessing a life-threatening incident.
The referee’s whistle soon blew as the seriousness of the situation dawned on everyone from the stands to the pitch to the press box at this compact little ground on the south coast.
Edwards was soon shepherding distraught players away from the scene like the responsible, impressive young manager he is.
It had happened again though. Lockyer had collapsed on a football pitch for the second time in seven months. Everyone inside the ground hoped and prayed for the best but feared the worst.
They had come to see a football match between two Premier League sides fighting for survival and were now left resigned to watching a 29-year-old man fight for his life.
For the 10 minutes or so between Lockyer suffering a cardiac arrest and getting carried off the pitch on a stretcher, you thought of Lockyer and his family, his friends, his loved ones. They had been through it at May’s Wembley play-off final and were going through it again.
Those in Luton colours were visibly distressed. Lockyer’s team-mate Issa Kabore was on his knees and praying by the side of the pitch. Edwards was close to tears. And so were the Bournemouth players and pretty much everyone else inside the Vitality Stadium.
In June, the Luton captain was given the ‘all clear’ to play football again after his Wembley trauma. Surely now, he won’t play again but that is a story for another day. Thankfully, Lockyer was ‘stable’ and ‘responsive’ last night.

I rather reluctantly clicked on the “Continues” link as I knew it was going to take me to that perverted shit-rag the Daily Fail, but I wanted to see for myself how they were going to massage the shit-show for the bleating masses. Lo and behold, was the little side-piece listing on the field coronaries and included a couple pre-covid-1984 pre-deathvaxxx collapses, such as star keeper Iker Casillas. I suspect Casillas and the pre-vaxxx monkey they also mentioned very well may have been working some performance enhancing drugs or high doses of pain killers out of their systems…but not before their cardio-pulmonary systems objected…
I have been a soccer (yeah yeah, football…and I agree the dumb-f*ck Americans should call it football as well, and their version of “football” more appropriately named thug-free-for-all o apes-gone-wild or whatever…though I myself also played the sport into college…) Anyway, I have been a soccer (aka football) referee for a decade and have worked quite a few matches including top-level high school and club competition, as well as some at the college level, and I had never witnessed a cardiac event on the pitch until so many of the dangerously stupid allowed some Tartuffe imbecile/psycho to inject them with toxic sludge for satanic shits and giggles and a piece of silver.
Yes, the fitness levels of the players has to be top-notch, if they want to be any good, and that is most true of their cardio capacity. That also holds true for the referees, again, if they want to be any good. A referee who’s fitness is lagging is not only unprofessional, but they will get ripped to pieces by fans, coaches, and players if they’re not able to keep up with play. Refs often get vocally ripped to pieces anyway, of course, and sometimes for damn good reason, but being out of game shape only gives more credence to the criticism. I haven’t been subject to nearly as much venom as I was not only cardio fit, but more physically imposing overall than most referees, looking like I could beat the piss out a player or coach or mouthy fan if I wished, so it’s funny how I haven’t receive nearly as much lip from those flopping poofters or couch critics. I have also challenged more than one mouthy fan to meet me in the parking lot after the match, but they never showed…go figure…
That being said, I have had to work with referees who were clearly not in very good physical condition, some of them much younger than I but either age caught up to them much faster or, more likely, they just weren’t putting the effort in. You wouldn’t get on the pitch as a player like that, but a shortage of referees sometimes necessitated putting someone out there who was obviously past their prime, including a couple tubs of sludge I’ve had to work with over the years. Even then, I have never witnessed anyone dropping dead on the field…until the covid-1984 war upon humanity launched by the predator class.

Seen a comment above about how many of the players got jabbed ? some clubs were asked about that, the clubs said they or any of their players would not be disclosing their status concerning the poison. Which probably means very few players got jabbed, if they all got it they would have been out promoting it, I am not aware of any players urging people to get it, there might have been though.
