The Israel Defense Forces have denied deliberately killing civilians trying to flee north Gaza in airstrikes, saying any information coming from the Hamas-controlled Palestinian enclave should be treated with “extreme caution and suspicion” as it serves their “propaganda purposes.”
While not completely ruling out the possibility of a “freak accident,” IDF spokesperson Lt. Colonel Jonathan Conricus insisted on Sunday that “there was no targeting of vehicles, there was no targeting of civilians” referring to Friday’s incident, in which dozens of people were killed or injured.
The spokesman demonstrated a video showing cars driving down Salah al-Din road, following an Israeli evacuation order, before an explosion hit one of the vehicles.
“I’m not a forensic expert, I won’t be able to say if this is a roadside IED or if this is a strike from above. But what I am able to say with confidence, because we have asked, is that the IDF did not purposely strike in that area,” Conricus said.

Health officials in the Hamas-governed Palestinian enclave claimed on Friday that Israeli airstrikes hit civilian cars in three separate locations, killing 70 people, and injuring up to 150 others. The UN humanitarian body, OCHA, said that “these incidents prompted many people to abandon their evacuation efforts and return home.”
However, the IDF spokesman insisted that “when the so-called Gaza Ministry of Health issues information about the amount of people killed, if they were armed or not, if they were women or children, obviously that information is authorized by Hamas… and serves its propaganda purposes.”
The IDF spokesman went on to argue that it “makes no sense for the IDF to have done it,” specifically “because we wanted people to go south.”
“Who would want to stop those same civilians – the same organization that did the roadblocks,” he claimed. “Hamas has both issued warnings to their civilians not to evacuate and when people did not listen to those warnings of Hamas they have actually stopped civilians.”
Again, this is not conclusive,” the spokesman admitted. “What is conclusive is that we for sure did not strike on purpose. It may have been some kind of a freak accident, which I doubt.”
On Thursday, Israel ordered the population of northern Gaza to move to the south in order to “save their lives,” and distance themselves from the militants ahead of a ground offensive. The entire territory remains blockaded, with the crossing to Egypt closed since Tuesday due to Israeli airstrikes.
Following Hamas’ attack on Israel last weekend, which left some 1,300 Israelis dead, Israel has targeted Gaza with the most intense bombing campaign in decades, killing upwards of 2,200 Palestinians and injuring over 7,600, according to local health officials.

Indonesian pilot dies after landing plane amid health issue

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — The pilot of a passenger airplane in Indonesia suffered a health emergency 15 minutes after take-off on Thursday and was forced to return to the airport before being rushed to a hospital where he later died.
The Citilink Indonesia flight — an Airbus A320 carrying more than 100 passengers — had departed from Surabaya’s international airport in East Java province and was headed to Ujung Pandang city in South Sulawesi province.
The cause of the pilot’s death was not immediately known.
The airline said it had conducted health checks prior to the flight for all crew on duty and that they were “declared fit or airworthy,” according to a statement from Dewa Kadek Rai, the president director of PT Citilink Indonesia.

Sky News: “The airstrike on a convoy of civilians fleeing the north of Gaza was not carried out by Israel”, spokesman for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner has said.
He said: “Our review found that there were no strikes conducted by the IDF, and it appears that HAMAS BOOBY-TRAPPED THE ROAD.
“It’s all part of their propaganda effort in order to raise the sense of strife and they have proven time and time again they are going to sacrifice their people.”
Lt. Col. Lerner went on to say he knew the IDF DID NOT CONDUCT THE STRIKE”.
Daily Express: “In an update posted to X, the IDF shared two photos showing an alleged Hamas roadblock along a road in Gaza.
Another photo showed a long line of cars, purportedly residents who wanted to escape Gaza City ahead of an Israeli ground offensive.
IDF spokesperson Lt. Colonel Jonathan Conricus said: “Hamas has issued warnings to their civilians not to evacuate and when people didn’t listen to those warnings, Hamas actually stopped convoys of Gazan civilians trying to flee the situation.”

No evacuation is being allowed. Since the beginning of the Israeli counter-offensive, the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing, has been targeted for aerial bombardment. The easiest way out of Gaza, is to cross the frontier with Egypt. Both the Egyptian government and Hamas have warned Palestinians not to seek refuge in Egypt. Wickedness abounds.
The Egyptian army is now constructing a concrete wall to prevent Palestinians from escaping to Egypt.
Both the UK and US governments have advised their citizens, trapped in Gaza, to make for the Rafah border. There are, apparently, some 600 US citizens in Gaza. Yesterday the Americans brokered a deal with Israel to allow its citizens to cross the Egyptian border between the hours of 12pm and 5pm. The Israelis renegued on the deal. The Israeli high command seems to have determined that refugees, whether they be natives or foreign nationals, will not have access to the Rafah escape route.
Egypt claims that it wishes to see the Zionist entity annihilated and yet, it warned Israel of the Hamas offensive in advance and is now refusing sanctuary to its fellow Muslims fleeing from war.
The two border crossings into Israeli occupied territories were closed down immediately that the war began. There is no way out of Gaza via Israeli territory.
There is no tenable evacuation by sea for the Gazans. Israel has banned all supply of humanitarian relief to Gaza by sea or air or land. The West Bank is the nearest refuge but it is likely to come under attack too soon. There are the Lebanese and Syrian borders to the North but you have to traverse occupied territories to get there and anyway, Lebanon is now a belligerent and Syria may follow.
How is it that the Israeli intelligence apparatus has suddenly become functional again and every Hamas HQ, barracks, redoubt and foxhole is now known to the IDF and are being targeted for erasure?
