New Commentary – Oct 6, 2023

On Thursday Oct 5, President Putin revealed that an estimated 90,000 Ukrainians had been killed or badly wounded since the start of the counteroffensive in June.

That’s 20 to 25 thousand a month, or around 5,000 a week. To put that into perspective, these figures completely dwarf U.S. casualty figures during the entire Vietnam War.

Putin revealed these figures during a speech at the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club in Sochi. Furthermore, according to the Russian president, the Ukrainian Army also lost 557 tanks and almost 1,900 armoured vehicles during the same period.

The response from the western mainstream media to these revelations has been quite telling.

Apart from a few outlets like La Prensa Latina, Putin’s speech was barely mentioned anywhere in the Western mainstream media. To all intents and purposes, President Putin’s speech came under a news blackout.

One of the few outlets that did report Putin’s speech was RT, which has effectively been banned in much of the West for months now https://edition.cnn.com/2022/03/18/media/uk-bans-russia-rt-tv/index.html

RT’s broadcast license was revoked a little more than three weeks after Russia commenced its operation in Ukraine.

So nearly 90,000 Ukrainians have been killed or incapacitated in little more than four months yet the Western media hardly seems interested.

Although, of course, the western MSM won’t call this news blackout what it is, censorship. That would make it too obvious. Instead they will just feign disinterest or no doubt claim it was an oversight, if confronted with allegations of censorship.

The reason for this should be obvious to anyone who hasn’t been entirely hypnotized by the Western MSM.

For the last four months the Western media has been trying to convince us that Ukraine was bravely fighting Russian forces with weapons and munitions supplied by the West. In reality it was a proxy war fought on the West’s behalf by Ukraine.

In order to ensure that the West’s supply of arms and ordnance continued uninterrupted, the media needed to maintain the illusion that Ukraine’s cause was justified and that it could even defeat supposedly superior Russian firepower.

This was to prevent the Western public from realizing that the West was fuelling this war in part of a broader campaign against Russia. The ultimate aim of which was to bring regime change to Moscow, in order to fragment Russia into a series of smaller rival principalities that could be more easily controlled, and exploited for their natural resources.

That’s why the Western MSM devoted so little time to report the mounting Ukrainian losses. To do so would undermine the illusion the media was tasked with creating. Russian General Sergei Shoigu estimated recently that as many as 66,000 Ukrainians had been killed in the counteroffensive.

That also explains why the Western MSM barely reported on President Putin’s speech in Sochi. What he said at the Valdai Debate Club contradicted everything the Western mainstream has been telling us about the war in Ukraine.

After all we have been told that Russia had encountered many setbacks and made many miscalculations in its campaign. Yet the Russian military now has the upper hand and is relentlessly hammering at what remains of the Ukrainian Army.

So Russia now has the initiative and thanks to Western sanctions, the Russian economy is more self-reliant and stable and as a result of the war the Russian Army is now bigger, better equipped and crucially more battle-hardened.

In short, Russia has never been better prepared to deal with its enemies.

So the question is, will Putin decide to resolve the threat to Russia at its source? Is he contemplating striking beyond Ukraine, into the West itself?

Finally it must be emphasised that this is not Putin’s war against the New World Order. He’s already signaled his willingness to comply with its dictates with his readiness to vaccinate Russia’s population. No, this is a war between different factions of the New World Order for supremacy.

It may, however, signal New World Order’s impending demise. Ed.
