Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Saturday slammed a report from the European Parliament on the country’s EU accession talks and threatened to “part ways” from the bloc.
Questioned by journalists about the report, Erdoğan said that “the EU is trying to break away from Turkey,” according to Turkish state media Anadolu Agency.
“We will make our evaluations against these developments and if necessary, we can part ways with the EU,” Erdoğan said ahead of a trip to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The European Parliament report, adopted this week in Strasbourg, said talks over Ankara’s accession to the bloc should not be resumed in current circumstances, voicing the EU’s concerns about human rights and rule of law violations. Instead, European lawmakers advocated finding “a parallel and realistic framework” for relations between Brussels and Ankara.
“We have recently seen a renewed interest from the Turkish government in reviving the EU accession process,” said the lead lawmaker on the file, Spanish Socialist Nacho Sánchez Amor, upon adoption of the report on Wednesday.
“This will not happen because of geopolitical bargaining, but only when the Turkish authorities show real interest in stopping the continuing backsliding in fundamental freedoms and rule of law in the country,” Sánchez Amor said.
Tukrey-EU ties have deteriorated amid Erdoğan’s increasingly autocratic behavior following a failed coup attempt in 2016.
Talks over Turkey’s accession to the bloc have stagnated for years. In July, however, EU foreign ministers agreed to move forward with relations.

After Covid, the EU, the UK, the US is concerned about human rights and rule of law violations? Give me a break.
How can there be human rights or the rule of law when all basic rights are unilaterally suspended whenever any government happens to deem “emergency conditions” for virtually anything they want, and you cannot even challenge them in the courts? How can there be human rights or the rule of law when the truth now means virtually nothing, and those in positions of power and authority in any major institution can freely lie to us?
The fact is that we are living in a world where any real basis for human rights and the rule of law has long since ceased to exist. Living in nations and in a world where our governments and the ruling elites have an absolute right to lie to us, to know everything we do, where they govern us through mass deceptions, psyops, brainwashing, fear mongering, intimidation, and coercion is neither free or just. You cannot on one hand ignore the actual methods used to govern us and say there are any human rights except the ones which the corrupt government minions of ruling elites deem should be such rights, such as the right to be socially, physically, and spiritually engineered according to their designs.
Yes, you have the right to obey all of the diktats of the state, to persecute those who disagree with the top-down official narratives of the state, to pretend we have free elections, to kill and abuse children, to mutilate your bodies, to pretend you are the opposite sex, to prey on the weak and the helpless, to help destroy religion, to deny natural law, to call good what is evil, to deny and suppress the truth, to be an obedient automaton in a vast computer network, to be deemed as “non-essential”, and finally – to kill yourself. Those are the “human rights” which now we are actually allowed to have, and I am surprised that by now they have not been more clearly articulated in our human rights codes.
As for the rule of law the only one which remains is the rule of those at the top of the pyramid which rule does not apply to them. It is much the same as any monarchy where the regent plays god and is always exempt from the laws of the land or violations to them. The only way you can have any rule of law to hold those in power accountable for their crimes is not only to posit the same laws governing over them, but also to have a higher “authority” above them which is the same authority for those who are governed. Otherwise, there is no real authority to clean up any corruption. What the secular humanists, materialists, moral relativists, determinists, atheists and agnostics running things fear is the most is that the people will believe in an all-good, all-loving, perfect, omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent God, and demand that anyone in any power structure over them also be subject to His will.
If on the other hand you want no god, or you want a Bal or a Satan, or some kind of god as with the Illuminati promising you great pleasures, wealth and power, and giving you the right to abuse those in your power – a god which does not recognize and reverence everyone as children of the true God, then you will have they very tyranny which has taken over your nations is taking shape to govern the entire planet.

Don’t worry Turkey will join a reformed revived Roman Empire Europe, as this EU of 27 countries will be reduced to 10 European nations where Germany is the leader. Erdogan is just bargaining with the current EU. At present the EU, mainly Germany, is still getting Oil and natural gas from Russia through Ukraine and Turkey. The demolition of the Nordstream pipelines by USA Special Forces to prevent gas going from Russia to Germany, was a ploy to cause changes in Europe despite what the people of Europe want. The components of a EuroAsian landmass superpower are forming through the BRICS and the newer BRICS 11 where the Middle East and Africa will play a supporting role for the main players of Beijing, China to Moscow, Russia and Berlin, Germany.
