Activists tear down Ulez surveillance cameras
- From next week the scheme will mean all London boroughs have a £12.50 charge
- Around 500 cameras are thought to be out of action as activists take them down
Eleanor Dye – Daily Mail Aug 24, 2023
Nearly nine out of 10 Ulez cameras have been vandalised in southeast London, according to an analysis of crowd-sourced data.
The data shows that only 29 cameras out of 185 in Sydenham are working, only four are intact in Bromley and just one is working on the A225.
Meanwhile images have been released of ‘blade runners’ stealing and vandalising the cameras.
From next week, the controversial scheme will cover all London boroughs and will force drivers of non-compliant vehicles to shell out £12.50 a day.
The pricey plans have been met with much resistance and armour plating is now being used to protect the cameras.
TfL is yet to share the location of the missing cameras, but Londoners have set up a Facebook group called ‘Ulez Camera Locations’, with the aim to ‘crowd-source’ the information themselves.
Around 500 cameras appear to be marked as out of action, missing or damaged, according to a map the group have generated.
The data shows a high concentration of missing cameras in the southeast of the capital.
This includes 156 out of 185 cameras in the area south of Sydenham and Sidcup and 18 out of 22 in Bromley.
Only one camera is shown to be working on the A225.
Meanwhile only 20 have been hit in central London.
TfL has said the vandalism will not stop the Ulez changes going ahead next week as planned and that all vandalised cameras will be replaced or repaired.
A spokesperson added that more than 1,900 cameras are in place in outer London.
Activists have also put stickers over the cameras so that drivers aren’t caught out by the new rules.
The black cameras have been covered with stickers reading ‘FCUK Khan’, while posters put up on poles dub them ‘spy cameras’.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak last month urged London Mayor Sadiq Khan to ‘think twice’ about Ulez expansion, while Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer suggested cities should look at other options for tackling air pollution.
Starmer has even blamed the policy for his party’s recent by-election loss in Uxbridge, which will now be included in the scheme.
Mr Khan has previously admitted his decision to expand the Ulez was ‘very difficult’ but insisted it would ‘see five million more Londoners being able to breathe cleaner air’.
The Metropolitan Police have released an image of a man they are tracing in connection with four Ulez camera offences in Hillingdon, Harrow and Uxbridge on June 17.
Other pictures, such as footage from Bromley – where Ulez is due to expand from August 29 – show a man climbing a pole to reach the camera.
Nick Arlett, of Action Against Ulez, believes that the action will ‘escalate’ once the new boundaries are introduced.
He told The Times: ‘Now it’s getting closer, people are getting more militant. I don’t condone vandalism, but it will escalate.’
Nick, who lives in Bromley, added: ‘A lot of people moved here from the middle of town to set up businesses but now they’re terrified because they don’t know what to do.
‘They can’t afford compliant vans so they’re looking at shutting down.’

I never believed brits had this in them, to become militant and resist government criminality as mainland Europeans do as they stand up to tyranny as best they can.
My understanding of brits is they will be kept apart, the channel in itself, but also idealogically and politically from mainland Europe, but this ULEZ brings me hope, not that I condone in any way the damaging of items that will unfairly target poor people by destroying the tools of criminality.
It is wrong to cut down, burn, paint over lenses, destroy the wiring of these items…………………………….innit.
Without doubt continuously ignoring the will of the majority of the people and alŵays showing contempt towards them what do TPTB think the sheeple will eventually do, comply?d
London and the UK plus France, Sweden, Hollamd and USA are bebining to show the proverbial line in the sand. Expsect more as the rams protect the flock and the sheep dogs support them.
The tide is a turning and the greed and arrogance will cause an awakening like no other seen before.
Yes it may get bad but better times are the pther side of this crap.

I saw one with a cutter on a stick taking out camera’s by cutting the wire. I worked a while with pelko surv cams, the best next option in case the wires get secured is a bit of oil on the perspex dome, it,s very hard to remove, it keeps on blurring the vision.
very good ! all please do it internationaly !
its anyway only surveilance for the government
not for the security of the people . the people
only need guns, nothing else . and they dont
need any corrupt judaized masonry police or
judges . people take your rights int your own hands !
The Crown owns all of the lands of the United Kingdom (and the Isles of Scilly,) including their highways and byways.
When a property owner dies intestate, title is automatically transferred to the Crown; with the exception of deaths occuring within the jurisdictions of the Duchy of Cornwall, or the Duchy of Lancaster, which are both private estates, personally owned by King Charles III. Hehehe.
Despite this, neither the Crown, nor King Charles III, as steward of the dukedoms, pays for the upkeep or administration of Britain’s roads. Our part in this debilitating sovereign contract, is that we have to pay for the maintenance and construction of British road networks, via road tax, income tax and locally levied council tax.
Westminster is in charge of all trunk road infrastructure (major routes.) A and B roads are under local authority control. Nonetheless, central government provides 50% of all funding for A roads and 30% of all budgets for B roads. Most of us are paying for roads that we’ll never use, nor ever hold allodial title over, nor ever have say over. All lands seized by compulsory purchase orders, belong to the Crown.
Of course, safe roads are a national concern but the freedom to travel your homelands unimpeded, is a most ancient right of Britons.
The only option for Londoners (and folk from Birmingham, Manchester and Sheffield who also have ULEZ schemes pending) – it seems, now that the government has declared that it won’t intervene to stop Sadiq Khan’s supergrift, is to challenge their liability for penalty charges legally.
The residents of the aforesaid cities have already paid vehicle registration tax and road tax and they already pay for road maintenance and repairs through income tax and council tax.
How many times can you be taxed for the same service? Five times, plus fines?
King Charles III needs to be called for the unconscionable leech that he is. Orf with his head.
Judicial recourse promises little, however. It’s the vigilante “blade runners” who seem to have correctly weighed the options and chosen the only viable counteraction availed to them – sabotage.
…good…keep destroying them…and be ready to take on the corrupt government in the streets if need be. Crush The Globalists
Fantastic. Keep up the good work.
One has to wonder how long it will be before the same fate is inflicted on the 5G Towers.
It’s comical how the names of the prime minister & mayor of London sound so ‘British’.
Yes- ‘Candid Camera’ has gotten way out of hand as the ‘vandals’ well know.
Welcome to your techno-Communist multiracial scum society, but hey, this is what millions of white Brits demolished Nazi Germany for..
There are way way way too many packies in London.
andyay: good comment. The social contract broke a long time ago due to the collapsing economy.
Someone said they don’t condone damaging these ULEZ cameras. Well, I do condone their damage.
As andyay eloquently points out, we pay for it, and we don’t want it. Thicko ethnic sheeple are the reason why Khan is in power, aside from the fact that LMEs are rigged by electronic counting.
Not only is the UK Nazi state the most corrupt nation on Earth (UKraine all in plain sight for all to see), every sheeple is a victim of fraud. You pay your taxes and expect services, which aren’t there, or don’t work.
Read the fake news, because it’s their job to convince the thicko sheeple that the police are actually applying the law, which they clearly are not doing.
Why are we paying to subsidise every UK defence job, and every foreign defence job employed by UK defence companies (many in the US) to the tune of £50,000 each per year? This is all part of the UKs GDP fiction.
Who got back handers for the ULEZ contracts, and dare I say, some who are damaging ULEZ cameras are emoloyed/contracted by the UK Nazi state, and there’s going to be infiltration, because you’d need to be very clever to avoid observation.
Even if they know who they are, it doesn’t mean the Nazi regime will catch them, although they’ve caught some, but it’s not in the ‘public interest’ (Nazi states interest) to prosecute. For too many legal cases to be distracted by ULEZ prosecutions which would galvanise public support and cost the Nazi state money they don’t want to spend. When the Nazi state murdered IRA members, there were several more stepping forward to take their places. This is what will happen to the organic anti ULEZ movement, it will grow. So the Nazi regime will be reluctant to seriously stop the damage.
As someone who lives in London, this City is a failed city. It is a dump of monumental proportions.
I’ve just returned from 3.5 weeks in well run civilised France. Aside from lorries on the ferries, our ferry was less than 20% full! And I’ve seen this and been told about this. I dove up from Dover hitting London during peak rush hour. Okay, it’s summer holidays, but heck, it was quiet, and I made the same observation when returning from Swindon (a dump), there was no rush hour coming into London. Now, we can say some of this is work from home, but my take, the UK economy is in a very bad way.
Alois Irlmeier prophesied that the kick back would not work out well for perpetrators like Khan, after a tipping point is reached. I hope he can escape to his nice safe haven back home in Pakistan. Isn’t it sad that zero innovation has been applied to clean up London’s air. Increase taxes, make public transport prohibitively expensive and now spend millions on these contraptions. A third world country in the making, except for the few.
Never thought I see the day when I could say:
Bravo TRUE Brit for showing the way to the multitudes of your THICK brethren!
