So, are you crying tears of sadness over the joint Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA strike?
Fran Drescher, president of the 160,000-member Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), says performers are “victims” after their demands for higher wages and protection from AI were rejected and they voted to strike.
The Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers had offered guild performers the highest percentage pay increase in 35 years, but nope, the actors turned it down. They now join members of the Writers Guild, who have been on strike since May 2, essentially shutting down the entire movie and television industry.
If you live in Los Angeles, like I do, you can see these clowns, parading up and down the street with their picket signs. Hanoi Jane even showed up at one demonstration, looking a hundred years old, and doing her best Norma Rae impersonation. I say all this as a former SAG member myself.

The striking actors don’t know it yet, they are putting themselves out of a job.
The truth may have a better chance in the interlude of the strikes. In place of all of the Hollywood fantasy and filth, people will get tired of watching old movies and many may tune into live issues on the internet. Even for YouTube, the demand for the truth has cancelled a lot of its censorship on hot issues like Covid, and there is a greater choice of content. It may even lead to more people turning off “mainstream” movies as droves have already cancelled out on mainstream news outlets.

It isn’t just about the money. It’s about AI replacing human capital. Pretty sure, that’s the real threat they are facing and the real threat that concerns people like Fran and other’s like her.
Not everyone in Hollywood is making money hand over fist in the entertainment business. Think about the extra’s. They don’t make a ton of cash.
When I lived in Hollywood, my casting agency was Central Casting. I had a great agent and he sent me out on a ton of extra work. I didn’t make a lot of money, but for me, it wasn’t about the money or the fame. I did it for the food. Movie and television sets have the best food ever catered. I’m sure there are a lot of people still in the business who are working just to have a good meal because God knows EXTRA’s aren’t paid a lot of money for their time.
Folks shouldn’t judge. Not all people in the entertainment industry are rich elites and the replacement of human capital for AI images is a serious concern that should concern EVERYONE not just the folks in the entertainment business.
I very rarely watch anything that was made post 2000 (when Ugly / stupid / violent / woke became the New Beautiful). So if Hollywood vanished altogether, I might not even notice.
Maybe these “””people””” would feel at home in a nice labor camp, where “Work Makes Free!”
How wonderful it would be to see them actually performing useful tasks!
