For a moment of levity in the Prigozhin saga, take a gander into the stunning inferential powers of the Lithuanian Intelligence Service:
‘According to Lithuanian counterintelligence, it was not Yevgeny Prigozhin but his double who used the passport recently found in the offices of the founder of the Russian private military Wagner in Russia. Three years ago, the lookalike used the passport to travel to Lithuania, where the service said Wednesday he was preparing an “information attack”.
The Lithuanian counterintelligence service published a picture of a wanted man who travelled to the country under the name Prigozhin back in 2021. The same picture was found on a passport, also in the name of Prigozhin.
However, the passport was “used for an information attack against Lithuania in 2020” – the security service wrote on its Facebook page on Wednesday.
According to the service, the use of the lookalike was intended to undermine European solidarity by making it appear that Yevgeny Prigozhin had entered Lithuania, an EU member state, despite the international travel ban already imposed on him because of Wagner’s activities. The fact that the passport was found in Prigozhin’s office suggests that the businessman, who rebelled against the Russian leadership last week, was part of the plot, according to Vilnius.
“The Lithuanian intelligence service has concluded that the document proves that the information attack was carried out by people controlled by Yevgeny Prigozhin in coordination with the intelligence services of the Russian regime,” the statement said.’

Western mouthpieces are saying it looks like General Surovikin was involved with the coup but I doubt he was a conspirator. He may have been in contact with Prighozin or others to draw the plot into the open, and had he refused involvement too early that may have sprung the trap too soon and not caught anybody.
Surovikin’s friendship with Prighozin may have saved him if this was not a ruse. If Prighozin is murdered within a short time that may be the west trying to frame Putin, but if he dies after a time that may be Putin. And nobody can say Russia is still commie anymore because America kills its inconvenient people sooner, and they’ll take down a plane full of people to be sure of killing just one.

@Robert – the criminal charges were a punishment against Scott Ritter for telling the truth about NO weapons of mass destruction in Iraq – which enraged the criminal Bush administration and in particular Colin Powell. Approximately one year later it was reported that it was a case of mistaken identity and Scott Ritter was innocent. If you are looking for a nasty past as a meddling sociopath read about Colin Powell’s actions during the Vietnam WAr. I doubt you will research this because in general people do not like the truth and prefer MSM B.S.

Forget Scott Ritter, iEarlGrey, Gonzalo, Saker and the others. They have simply been feeding us the Russian Ministry of Defense transcript for well over a year.
A little like the QAnon Trumper religion, anything that goes against their script is ignored but for rational thinkers, it’s obvious that Ritter isn’t giving us the whole truth. The military front has hardly moved in over a year, so clearly Russia isn’t winning the way Ritter believes it is.
I like Scott, but like about everyone else (especially CIA) imo he is/was completely wrong on this issue. I have been reading H.A.L. Fisher on the history of Europe and the two Russias that came into being, one of them with a Lithuanian base that arose suddenly, and the other one suffering for two-hundred years paying tax to the Golden Horde. It was a big deal when Russia got free of this, but it is hard to sense how real the emotions are and how long the forces last, so an historian can discuss almost anything and call it relevant. In the West today we are all supposed to ignore the fact that Moslems invaded and are taxing us heavily. Will even future historians speak of this?
