It is hard to believe that one of America’s first slave owners was a Black man in Virginia. It is interesting that Anthony Johnson was brought to Virginia in 1620 as an indentured servant from Angola, West Africa.
After Johnson served his time and was freed, he used what he had learned from being a slave on a tobacco farm to become a successful tobacco farmer and landowner. He became wealthy enough to own his own slaves. In 1651, he owned 250 acres of land and the services of four White indentured servants and one Black indentured servant.
Johnson as a slave owner
Johnson’s story is interesting because he was a former slave before he become a slave owner himself. In 1654, John Casor, the only Black indentured servant, fled from Johnson’s tobacco farm. Johnson went to court to demand the return of Casor. The court ruled in Johnson’s favor, and Casor was the first person in the American colonies to be declared a slave for life.
The Virginia court case was significant because it recognized Johnson as a slave owner. The court proved that Johnson was the first person to legally own a slave in the United States. Following the ruling, Johnson continued to own slaves and land until his death in 1670 because slavery was a widespread practice in the American colonies at that time. After Johnson’s death, his descendants also owned slaves and became successful landowners in Virginia and Maryland.
Reliable sources
Some people might reject this information as being true because they might not have heard it before. However, the Virginia court records prove that Johnson was a Black slave owner.

But, but – I thought it was only the blacks who were oppressed.
This kind of turns everything inside out so that BLM no more than white, i.e. we are all equal.
No, that can’t be true, some people are more equal than others, allegedly?
But white people in servitude to a black man and a former slave at that, no, can’t be true, can it?
Martin Luther King must have been right…
In effect, Blacks are all slave-owners in the modern West, because the Whites have to pay for their food and board and suffer attacks by them with no recourse to the law
Chances are that he already had slaves in Angola before being taken captive himself.
So this makes slavery alright, then? That means when Schwab and the billionaires make all us whiteys their slaves that’s okay then.
Being a descendant of Scots-Irish (almost 100 percent likely) indentured servants (father’s side) as well as my hubby (on mother’s side), I think EVERY white person in the US should be mandated to read Michael Hoffman’s “They Were White and They Were Slaves” which can be downloaded as a FREE PDF. Sorry, don’t have the link, but look it up. And every white ought to know the word “slave” comes from Slav–white Europeans enslaved by various groups (Moors, Berbers, Arabs, Jews, etc.). Because this bogus “white guilt” “self-hating white” crapola needs to end.
