His official defense, read out loud in court was that this was his job as an FBI operative/informant. He openly admitted to it. And he did it for money. He turned over the IP addresses of visitors to his website, and phone numbers of callers to his radio show to his FBI handler. He went to prison for encouraging violence on the judge.
