To say Hiroshima was devastate with fire bombs and not a nuke you would need some reliable aerial photographs and if you did not find circular symmetry of the devastation from a ground zero with little or nothing left in a 1.5 km radius with devastation by fire and things blown over away from the center of the blast in the outer radius, then there would be at least some reliable visual evidence that the Enola Gay likely did not drop a nuclear device on Hiroshima. The problem is that the aerial photos on the net are of a very poor quality.
The Americans no doubt would prefer now that history record that they never did such a dastardly thing, although they most certainly did kill as many or more with incendiary bombing operations on Tokyo. If they did fire bomb Hiroshima then at least some of the people involved in the operation would have squawked by now. Also, an earlier article on Henry’s site stated that Japanese authorities agreed with the Americans that nuclear devices would not be dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki but that they would play along with the Americans and say that they were, which means that such honorable Japanese authorities gave the green light to the fire bombings instead, which seems a little absurd.
Mathematically, the release of such energy in a nuclear fission bomb is well proven, and there has been so much testing going on since WWII that there are areas still highly contaminated, and there tens of thousands of people who have died early deaths who lived near the testing areas in the Pacific – another thing that both the Americans and the French should be ashamed about.
The fact that we have nuclear weapons does not mean the cold war was not contrived with the Soviets in the grandest protection racket in history where those two power blocks gobbled up virtually every nation on the globe into their spheres of influence. Also, if that is the case then they likely would have “grossly” exaggerated the number of nukes they had and capabilities of their actual devilry systems. But even if the cold war was real and not contrived, both sides would have done some exaggerating as to their capabilities.
