Padre Pio was a Capuchin Friar born in 1887 in Pietrencina in the Campania region of southern Italy.
He bore the Stigmata, or wounds of Christ, for exactly 50 years and 3 days.
Padre Pio made many prophecies, all of which came to pass.
When he received the Stigmata in 1918, he is said to have known the time of his own death.
Although he died in 1968, Padre Pio still remains one of the foremost Christian Voices in the world today because he predated the deterioration of the Catholic Church after Oct 1958 (when Freemasonic Pope John XXIII and his first appointed cardinal Pope Paul VI jointly enacted the disastrous Vatican II after which God, in the words of Malachi Martin, simply withdrew His Grace from the Catholic Church). Padre Pio remained a TRADITIONAL CATHOLIC until his death.
For the process of canonization, Padre Pio’s body was exhumed in 2008 and was found to be almost totally uncorrupted.

By 1920, when Pio was 33 and was already exhibiting his scars before masses of pilgrims, the church was worried that his cult was spinning out of control. Reports commissioned by the church claimed Pio regularly scourged himself with a metal-tipped whip, and had sex with women twice a week. For many years Pio was banned from celebrating mass in public.

It is morally obligatory to snipe at this very venal lot, first because they are and were very venal. One need only recall the crusades, even against fellow Christians (the Cathars) whom they wiped out during a relentless 20-year war, the burnings at the stake, the brutal punishment of scholarship not in line with their teachings, the inquisitions, their burdensome church taxes, their unfailing alliance with against the people with whoever is the the strongest secular power, and most recently, their long-hidden sexual abuse of children.
Is this criminal context one into which the Virgin Mary is likely to drop to hand out messages to humanity? Obviously, it is not. Yet they have fed off this message-giving apparition hoax for years: Lourdes, Fatima, Medjugorje … all in the effort to force-feed the view that they are the one church favoured by God, thus the providers of the only path to salvation. I cannot but marvel at the number of people who manage to believe this tosh.

A lot of people spend a lot of time in these Comments Columns calling each other variations of ‘idiot’, and often terms a deal less polite.
(They either use pseudonyms or have very common surnames so that they could be one of thousands but – I never insult people because of the power of negative words.)
Which explains why those United in Evil – who support Globalism by default- are on such a good wicket.
Because by their very human nature a lot of those despise each other as well, but the most Evil – the ones who have been practicing it for generations of their generation – by their very lack of scruple, hold on to the most power.
However I am going to be a bit negative here and use up my 2023 quota of negativity all at once by utilising the word ‘chump’ here – nothing stronger.

How do people think the Civilisation they are bemoaning as being dismantled on all levels came about in the first place?
WHAT do they think people were treated like in pre-Christian times?
Why do they think that it is ALWAYS Open Season on Christianity, no other Creed, and via that, on the Family Unit?
How do they expect people to be connected to each other, bond in families, to be integrated into the Cycles of Life on this Planet, to develop and mature as individuals, without a collective acknowledgement of the Sacred and the marking of the Rites of Passage – Birth, Adolescence, Marriage, Death?
Paradox lies at the heart of existence; it is a fact of our condition that we have the best chance of leading integrated, productive and varied lives if we have the constraints of Faith – rather than the constraints of the small-minded and Woke totalitarian constructs of post-Christian Europe.
Those men who dedicated their lives to, say, building the Great Gothic Cathedrals of Europe, often in the knowledge that they would be long dead before the completion of the project, created something beautiful and everlasting that the Shard in London or the Empire State in New York cannot approach in terms of – ANYTHING.
Europe produced Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky (who wrote highly regarded Christian Orthodox Music) within the context of Christian Civilisation – no one alive now even approaches them – most of the great technological and social innovations from the efficient and still functional Victorian Sewers of London to the first Hospitals were created in the context of Christian Civilisation.
And this is not even to mention the Supernatural Aspect, which is Real and channeled collectively and SANELY, with a direct connection to the Timeless Wisdom and Sacred Knowledge of Proportion and Harmony in Music, Prayer, Prose, Architecture and so forth, and based on a profound and instinctive knowledge of how human societies can best be organised to provide the maximum autonomy combined with the maximum continuity.
Any Individual ‘dissing’ Christianity will have plenty of material to work on, but are going to be confined to their individual perception. Others will agree with them on the awfulness, or zomboidness, or whatever, of Christianity, but they won’t agree with each other on much else.
They may well be gifted with their own Spiritual Insights that are of benefit to them, but it will not be of much valuable collective application .
Besides, I LOVE what this chap is saying here – he has drawn the same conclusion about the Ukraine Conflict as me – as in – ‘I have no idea’ –

Stigmata is a real medical phenomenon and its production is generated psychically, like the oriental sadhus and fakirs, who can manipulate their internal systems in all sorts of ways, elevate or lower blood pressure, repress sensations of pain, control body temperature and so forth.
Exorcists like Malachi Martin and numerous others report that the demonically possessed people can pull off all manners of seeming miracles, like popping text on their skin but these are preternatural rather than supernatural events, probably due to the possessor’s knowledge of corporal systems and ability to finely manipulate muscles, internal as well as external ones.
So, if someone is sufficiently motivated, they can manufacture “stigmata” anywhere, foreheads, backside and armpits.
Padre Pio’s stigmata are both real and irrelevant.
What is relevant to me, reading these comments is how self-righteous are the atheists in rubbishing what they have neither clue nor interest in investigating at a more fundamental level.

Furthermore on the subject of the stigmata.
Padre Pio worked them up in religious fervor and ecstasy in innocent belief that they were as depicted by countless artists over the centuries in paintings, murals and crucifixes in churches and crossroads throughout Europe.
They were all wrong, because they did not understand forensic anatomy like we do today, i.e., palms are too fragile to carry the weight of the body through those two points.
But does it occur to anyone that this provides a powerful support to the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin (Sindone)?
Because this object of eternal mystery, subtly mocking the presumptuousness of modern science, shows the spike wounds in the correct places, through the wrist, angled slightly upwards at exits, so that the act of raising himself by pulling his wrists down greatly increased the already excruciating (hmm, the etymology of “excruciate” …) agony in order to continue breathing.
And if I recall, at least one of the arms on this image shows dislocation at shoulder, because the transversal boards were manufactured with preset holes drilled in where the spikes had to go into, so that if the condemned unfortunate’s arms were too short, the executioners would simply dislocate them in order to stretch them to the perfect fit.
And the Shroud had it right, though good Padre did not know these things in his youth.
Ironically, even his ignorance only served to cement the mysterious provenance of the Shroud and the Gospels it confirms down to the minutest detail.

There was a bogus debunking in the 1980s that was nothing of the sort, but The Post Vatican 2 ‘Catholic Church’ affirmed it.

If stigmata of the palms are psychically-induced phenomena, predicated upon a historical misassumption, then what gives them validity as manifestations of religious devotion?
It’s not that I disagree with your premise (I’m a big Colin Wilson fan) but I wonder how you can extrapolate an authentically “mystical” experience from this? Unless, you accept the argument that all physical manifestations of devout faith are the product of some autonomic verve. I don’t think that you mean to say that, though.

religious devotion is just another form of devotion, it neither validates nor invalidates religious dogma.
As far as I am concerned, I like Padre Pio’s face, it is a very kind one, in itself more convincing than the leaking wounds on hands, feet, forehead and chest.
I am worried that excessive antisemitism may grow my nose into the trademark overhang—must … not … dislike Jews … so much.
Feral cats … interesting that you would mention this, not sure in what connection but just a day or two ago I came across this somewhat unbalanced chap Louis Wain, a prolific illustrator of cats and in a bit of side research discovered that his troubled mind had the cats’ fear of owls down pat, because feral cats sometimes get grabbed by owls while both are prowling and hunting at night.

Stigmata are not all rubbish–once, when I averaged about fifteen injuries at any one time, my four worst ones were in the middle of each foot and the middle of each hand, just painful aches like stress fractures, and I laughed when I noticed it was Easter

All my life I was a dog-man and had an aversion to cats, would break into uncontrollable sneezing and eyes watering at the first sight of them.
And now here, in the rural Thailand, I was indeed beset by wandering feral cats that came and went, including 4 lovely toms, 2 were ginger and all sadly gone, killed in fights, one traffic accident and one down to feline flu.
The last one, whom I named Brandon (obviously) was a prototype dude, a noble soul, brave fighter yet very kind to lesser ones, I totally fell in love and nuzzled him like a teddy bear, not a scintilla of allergic intolerance.
Went to Canada last summer much against my inclination to say hi to family, some of whom seem in transit off-world, hurried back eagerly to see all the dogs and cats that made my property their homestead.
And … Brandon was tragically gone, died of cat flu.
I just cannot get over it even 6 months later, I look somewhere and am painfully reminded how he used to lurk there and come happily bounding at me.
He could have been professor of true manhood for millions of tragically woke soyboys.
