A Belgian married father-of-two has died by suicide after talking to an AI chatbot about his global warming fears.
The man, who was in his thirties, reportedly found comfort in talking to the AI chatbot named ‘Eliza’ about his worries for the world. He had used the bot for some years, but six weeks before his death started engaging with the bot more frequently.
The chatbot’s software was created by a US Silicon Valley start-up and is powered by GPT-J technology – an open-source alternative to Open-AI’s ChatGPT.
‘Without these conversations with the chatbot, my husband would still be here,’ the man’s widow told La Libre, speaking under the condition of anonymity.
The death has alerted authorities who have raised concern for a ‘serious precedent that must be taken very seriously’.

The man shared his suicidal thoughts with the bot and it did not try to dissuade him, the woman told La Libre.
She said she had previously been concerned for her husband’s mental health. However, she said the bot had exacerbated his state and she believes he would not have taken his life if it had not of been for the exchanges.

The law firm, Miller & Zois, is taking on legal cases in all 50 American states of victims who have suffered harm from the vaccine. When I shop at Harbor Freight for tools, the cashier always asks for my phone number. I say I do not have a phone, and then she looks at me strangely. So on Friday I am in there getting those Thunderbolt Edge AA batteries on sale for cheap (they are rebadged Duracells for less than 1/3 the price) she asked me again, and I said I do not have a phone because you have to draw the line somewhere and I know corporate sells my phone number.
I literally drew the line at the smart phone. I will not own one or pay for a subscription. But I am sitting here in a chair looking at a large panel monitor hook to a computer and internet. Already I waste so much of my day not in the organic world, I am quite aware of being in this other artificial world, and it bothers me, but the internet is like a drug you get hooked on.
My job is out of doors mostly. So I transition from the dark room with internet into the light of day, Nature, on a regular basis. My eyes squint at the bright sunshine. This bothers me also, as I am quite aware of how the internet has captured so much of my attention and life force. Not just my physical body, but my mind and spirit. I do understand that the electronic world is sucking me into itself.

On my very first engagement with ChatGPT and then the supposedly more advanced ChatGPT-4 I succeeded in making it look stupid and it really wasn’t even that hard.
My very first question was quite short, simple and sweet. And both stupid AIs made two errors answering.
The question was this . . . Who ran the quickest 1/4 mile ever ran by a NHRA top fuel dragster?
Both AIs said it was Brittany Force (wrong) and the elapsed time was 3.62 seconds. (wrong)
Actually both made three errors because their wrong answere were predicated on runs of 1000 foot instead of 1320 feet (1/4 mile)
After correcting both, both apologized and I told them apology not accepted (lol) because it was unacceptable for them to not cipher and understand the question quickest 1/4 mile meant 1320 feet not the 1000 feet currently the standard.
So I then went back the next day and asked both AIs the very same question. After answering the very same question with the very same incorrect data (exact same incorrect answers as the previous day) I asked both why is it you are unable to learn from your acknowledged mistakes of yesterday and so today answer correctly by using the accurate data I supplied to them and which they verified was indeed correct data. Once again they both could only apologize and make a lame excuse about programming. So I told them I couldn’t hang around with them anymore because they weren’t up to it. Pretty sure I heard them groan..
