The French Le Figaro has an interview with the well known anthropologist Emmanuel Todd.

“The third world war has began” is his new thesis. Todd is quite famous for correctly predicting the devolution of the Soviet Union long before it happened. He was quite alone at that time.
I once had a piece on Todd’s later predictions for the U.S. and Europe which still seems spot on. I also quoted him in a piece on social decline as a national security issue.
Unfortunately the Figaro piece is paywalled. But Arnaud Bertrand has done us the favor of translating the gist. Here is his slightly edited thread:

Emmanuel Todd, one of the greatest French intellectuals today, claims that the “Third World War has started.”

He says “it’s obvious that the conflict, which started as a limited territorial war and is escalating to a global economic confrontation between the whole of the West on the one hand and Russia and China on the other hand, has become a world war.”
Well, I knew all of this, as I gone over most of these points.
Me, I had no doubt that Russia would survive and thrive in the face of NWO sanctions, and what’s more, EU trade has actually increased, and the EU is buying Russian energy through second and third parties.
This is probably why Russia hasn’t escalated their own sanctions. No point, we are making more money by selling less energy.
I’ve also been saying that Obama’s sanctions effectively started WW3, because sanctions are an act of war!
Brexit is a trade war, with trade sanctions, where there were none, now they are there, and causing tremendous damage to the UK. London isn’t even a major financial center. Russis and CHINA will insure their own shipping, and they’ve removed trackers from their fleets. Sure, the US can track, but it takes resources and time. As the article states, most of the world isn’t singing to Uncle Sam.
There are basically two factions. The NWO, and the New Free World, which Putin is defending their right to exist.
And I’ve even covered the US and UK importing foreign brain power. I was making this point over a decade ago.

Production of the US was given away not run off as the author states. The deindustrialization began in the 1970s,,, by 2009 it was pretty much said and done.
