With an interesting comment on YouTube.com;
Architecture student here: Anytime we (students) propose a project that is more “conservative” or old-fashioned or not-fitting-the-norm, we are dealt with harsh critics by the professors, and are strongly encouraged to change the concept, and more often than not, our projects won’t be graded and we can’t pass the subject until the finished object ends up looking more or less like these in the video. Almost as if we are not allowed to think differently, it’s all fine until you follow the narrative. Generations of young architects are trained to project monstrosities like these, at least at mine faculty.

An alternative.

I live near Clapham Old Town, & I’ve had a birds eye view of the unfolding monstrosity that is Battersea, Nine Elms, and Vauxhall.
I’ve even made comments on here over the years noting what is going on. The buildings in all three areas are beyond monstrous. It’s had to find words to describe just how bad these buildings look.
Even the new tube stations look ugly, and very underused. The original plan was to put a social housing skyscraper on top of Nine Elms tube station. This social housing tower was one of the reasons used to get planning permission, but the tower has been dropped. So now we have a long low tube station next to tall swanky towers.
But let’s go back to 2008, when the UK economy slipped over the cliff. This is when the debt taps were turned on, when many brown envelopes were handed out, all to keep the UK books looked kinda balanced. If you stripped out all this awful new building works in London, the books would’ve looked like a disaster zone, so we now have to look at the disaster until they decided they want to build another disaster.
The Battersea developers website was/is deviod of all contact details. They know exactly what they done to this area on South West London, and in fact, the mess extends along the South Theams Bank, with a few exceptions, to Tower Bridge, where you can find that ‘zit’ of a building called City Hall, with resident evil Nazi, Sadiq Khan.
The solution for everything is the same–Nazi laws against a Jewish presence in any positions of responsibility, but not laws administered by Jews as with the Hitler government. Failing that, merely a Jew-wise culture being sceptical of these piss-takers
Re: Modern architecture.
It is simply a 3-D version of modern art…it is weaponized to create psychological trauma.
This as been well- documented.
Architect Frank Gehry is a JEW.
Prior to WW2, much of what was constructed was well built and well designed.
Duly note post war how hideous architecture has become.
Tom Wolfe – “From Bauhaus to Our House” 1981 – a great little read
The orks and their works have to be put down.
Punishment and just desserts for rejecting Zaha Hadid by the British architectural elite, who have ironically proved their vile taste as the video enlightens all how degenerate the establishment is.
I’d feel uneasy every time I walked beneath the fall-range of one of those four old chimneys, but living within those ranges would be quite fretful, especially on windy days or after a freeze then the sun shines on them. I heard only recently each one has been stripped down and their bricks numbered and cleaned before being rebuilt so their mortar is new. Maybe so, but I still wouldn’t want to live that close to one.
Tower Blocks, eh? Thrilled PJW compared that monstrosity in the pix above to the Tower of Babel… and as for tower blocks blocking out the sun, reminds me of a tower block in the dystopian movie “Brazil.” Or maybe, those underground tower blocks for the worker slaves in the greatest silent movie, ever, Fritz Lang’s “Metropolis.” Since the end of WW2, nearly all “architecture” is artistic garbage!
And remember those Chelsea (I think) tower blocks that burned because of poor cladding? Hmmmm… Those old-time row houses in the north of England in the pre-Thatcher days look a whole lot more artistic than these Towers of Babel…and I’ve seen a few in 1970 trip to England as a graduation gift.
I just scanned Lagos on Google Earth, and they have low buildings all packed together, no gaps, no parks or open spaces: authority never said “let’s have a bit of planning here”. Africans also queue with no gaps–personal space does not exist. London, by comparison, is refreshing
