Things that make you go hmmmm……
Replicating a womb for the gestation of an infant from a single-cell ovum being fertilized, to developing fetus to birth, will likely always remain a sci-fi concept. To presume we can do with mechanics what nature took perhaps a billion years to achieve, from the first single-cell through all the different types of eggs into gestation inside the body (weren’t we mammals the last branch of life to develop?), seems to me as realistic as some aero-engineer saying soon we’ll all be flying around on broomsticks like birds.
We’d have to develop a synthetic wall similar to the uterus so Junior can attach to that to be fertilised, which must then become a placenta on which the fetus then grows freely into a synthesised amniotic fluid. The mechanics involved in moving Junior between those three environments alone appear beyond our abilities if Junior is to remain viable and later on become a functioning and productive human, when whatever else could be grown in such pods (tadpoles at best?) in no way is it going to be a human.
