Pedophiles are getting less than a year prison time after a range of horrific acts, including raping kids under 14, a DailyMail.com investigation reveals.
Analysis of a California database of sex offenders shows thousands of child molesters are being let out after just a few months, despite sentencing guidelines.
Current and former sex crime prosecutors said the figures are ‘terrifying’ and ‘shameful’.
More than 7,000 sex offenders were convicted of ‘lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age’ but were let out of prison the same year they were incarcerated, data from the California Megan’s Law database says.
Others who committed some of the worst child sex crimes on the statute books served similarly short sentences, including 365 pedophiles convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child who spent less than 12 months in prison, 39 cases of sodomy with a child under 16, and three cases of kidnapping a child under 14 ‘with intent to commit lewd or lascivious acts’, according to the data.
Former Los Angeles sex crimes prosecutor Samuel Dordulian told DailyMail.com he was ‘shocked’ by the statistics and described them as ‘frightening for society’.
‘Statistics clearly show that pedophiles don’t get reformed. They’re going to come out and they’re going to commit again,’ Dordulian said.
‘Letting these people out early, we’re allowing for a lot more victimization. And that’s terrifying.’
It is unclear whether the Megan’s Law database prison time statistics are similar for other states, as DailyMail.com was only able to obtain detailed sex offender data for California.

My. God. A couple stunning things here, one is that the Daily Fail actually came through with a piece that is seemingly truthful, impactful to society, and delivered from a sane and sensible perspective rather than some warped deranged ranting of the lunatic left. Early turnstile release of sexual predators of children is absolutely unacceptable in any sane society. Frankly, a conviction of a sex crime against a child should result in a swift and painful public execution. As one of the prosecutors in the piece truthfully pointed out, there is no rehabilitating someone so utterly depraved and they will most likely re-offend again when put back into society, so incarceration is useless. Then there’s the fact that most child molesters are now given their own wing in jails and kept out of general population in some grossly warped effort to protect them, so they rarely get what’s coming to them from the other inmates in jail like they used to.
I’d rather they let murderers out early than child molesters as I can at least understand what would drive someone to kill. When I lived in New Orleans, the homicide rate was astronomical but, when examining the relationships and behaviors of those involved, it seemed a large majority of the “victims” were far from being decent citizens and had it coming. In the case of preying on innocent children,and targeting them for rape, molestation, child porn, or grooming, I will NEVER be able to wrap my mind around that in any way. There can be no justification or explanation of such demonic behavior, and I would be moved to beat the ever living piss out of anyone who would even try to defend, justify, or explain it.
