There is a spirit world, that I absolutely know. The religions are most probably a control mechanism, but at the root there is probably something to base it all on, far removed from what they have evolved into though. When my grandmother died back in 2009 (in the US) I was living far away in Belgium. A couple of weeks later around 20 times or so, several leaves on this plant started moving up and down, and around 30cm or so, as if someone was doing it with their hand (no air movement). My wife put it behind the curtains, and then my daughters musical toys started making music on their own. The piano was first, and my daughter was pointing to it in terror, so I went over and kicked in the air above it (the piano) and told whatever it was to leave. So then the two other musical toys started too, and in series, as in one (30 seconds or so), then the next, then the next, and over and over for around 30 minutes. To me that was the spirit of my grandmother trying to get our attention. A Spanish friend was working in Seattle, when a friend of his bought a condo really cheap. He discovered why it was so cheap a couple of months after moving in, when one evening a painting came flying off the wall and landed in the middle of the salon where he was relaxing with his family. He soon discovered that there was this aggressive and unseen presence that wanted them out. And when I was working in Montreal back in 1994, I got to know a Brazilian musician, who told me about his near death experience, when he flatlined for around ten minutes on the operating table. He came out of his body and watched everyone rushing frantically to save him, while he was floating around the room. The man told me that when a child, he used to hold his breath until he passed out, and would come out of his body and would watch his mother frantically shaking him to bring him around. I have spoken to many people who have experienced things like covers flying off the bed, heavy desk handles moving up and down on their own, strange steps on the stairs, and many other “paranormal” phenomena. Things have occurred in this apartment here in Brazil that are hard to explain from a simple “materialistic” viewpoint. I have seen enough over my life to convince myself the spirit world exists. Then there is Ian Stevenson, the Canadian doctor, spent 40 years studying reincarnation, and presented very convincing evidence for it to be true. So if the spirit world exists, most probably God exists, and the universe didn’t just “create itself”, and DNA seems like a computer code, which is further evidence of the divine. Whether the divine takes any interest in us or not, is another matter, but there is pretty good evidence that a creator of some kind is behind everything.
