Arthur Firstenberg – Cell Phone Task Force Newsletter Nov 3, 2022
When I was eight years old, as I stood among the birds and trees in front of my cousins’ country home, I suddenly heard a horrendous noise I had never heard before. “It is called a chain saw,” said my uncle George, as he explained to me what it did. In my mind’s eye I saw forests tumbling down all over the world.
Four years later, a TV commercial filled me with foreboding. It featured a bottle of shampoo falling to the floor of a shower stall and not breaking! The Prell company was introducing the wonders of plastic to a consuming public.
That same year, 1962, a marine biologist awakened the world to the devastation caused by pesticides, igniting an environmental movement that shook the world to its roots.
Yet today, 60 years later, the world poisons itself with five times as much pesticides as it did before Rachel Carson’s monumental book. The few remaining old growth forests continue to be felled by machines with a power beyond anyone’s control. And as marine mammals, seabirds and turtles choke on bottle caps, lids and grocery bags, the oceans will soon contain more plastics than fish, and we swim in microplastic particles that rain down on us day and night in the very air we breathe.
It is no one’s fault, and it is everyone’s fault. Today, without assigning blame, we have an opportunity to gather together in personal action for the future of life on Earth. An opportunity to change course. Microwave radiation is the first pollutant that is being spread intentionally over every square inch of the planet. And it is the first pollutant whose source and driving force — the mobile phone — is within the palms and pockets of the world’s population at all times. This gives us a unique opportunity to be proactive instead of just advocates. To be a movement of change and not just for change. To set an example of what must also be done with respect to the other environmental assaults.
Wireless technology is also the first pollutant for which there is not a dose response: the effect does not depend on the dose. Reducing the power level of a wireless device does not reduce the harm that it causes. For purposes of health and environment, a cell phone is a cell tower. We cannot have birds and insects and also have cell phones. Our children will not live to grow up if we do not get rid of cell phones.
The benefits of ridding one’s life of cell phones — the restoration of your health and vitality — are immediate, startling, and far greater than the benefits that they provide. And as this action spreads, so will the benefits. A restored vitality of the forests, oceans, wildlife and birds that once gave life meaning will give people much more than they will give up when they throw away their cell phones — and gladly give up, once they feel the difference and realize what they have traded away.
We ask you to join in pledging to do your part in putting an end to the greatest, most urgent, most ignored assault on the Earth that there is. To plant a seed that will be watered, grow, and proliferate. No one — not legislators, not judges, not corporate CEOs — can do it for us.
Please read and sign the pledge below. The signature text comes in two versions, one for people who still own cell phones, and the other for people who do not. You can also read and sign them in these languages:

NO CELL PHONE! Pledge
(for those who still have cell phones)
WHEREAS, your cell phone emits the same microwave radiation as a cell tower;
WHEREAS, making a cell phone call or sending a text exposes you to much more radiation than the radiation from any cell towers;
WHEREAS, turning on your cell phone causes the nearest cell tower to emit more radiation;
WHEREAS, for your cell phone to work when you want it to, all the cell towers on Earth have to be there;
WHEREAS, reducing the power of your cell phone, holding it away from your body, or putting it on a table, does not make it any safer and can harm you even more;
WHEREAS, in experimental animals, a two-minute exposure to a cell phone damages the blood-brain barrier, and a two-hour exposure causes permanent brain damage, even when the power is reduced 100-fold;
WHEREAS, cell phone radiation interferes with nerve conduction and brain function and is a predominant cause of multiple sclerosis, ADHD, autism, dementia, anxiety disorder, depression, and other neurological disorders today;
WHEREAS, cell phone radiation interferes with your metabolism and is a predominant cause of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancer today;
WHEREAS, your cell phone, when you call or text, directly exposes not just you, but your family, children, pets, friends, passersby, and the birds, insects, animals, plants and trees in your neighborhood to microwave radiation;
WHEREAS, most insects and at least one-third of all birds on Earth have already disappeared, having been killed in large part by the radiation from cell phones and cell towers;
WHEREAS, life on Earth evolved for billions of years without microwave radiation (the microwave radiation from the sun and stars being miniscule), and there is no safe level of exposure;
WHEREAS, microwave radiation is the first pollutant that is being intentionally dispersed over every square inch of the Earth, instead of unintentionally like every other pollutant;
WHEREAS, there are 15 billion cell phones in use on Earth today, and the microwaving of our planet will never cease unless and until the people decide to stop using them;
WHEREAS, microwave radiation is a greater and more urgent assault on the Earth than global warming, pesticides, or any other environmental threat, and is well on the way to destroying the rest of terrestrial life within a very few years;
THEREFORE, we the undersigned pledge that we will get rid of our cell phones by March 20, the Spring Equinox, 2023.

Firstenberg’s book is very good. The case for increased electrification and the increase of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes persuasive; the idea that Spanish Flu was caused by increased emission of military EMFs, not so much. In this latter case, “vaccination” seems to me to be the main culprit, notwithstanding that disease causation from the terrain perspective counts chemical as well as electromagnetic poisoning among its vectors.
The phone in the graphic is the Motorola Razr. The model of phone I have gone back to. People laugh when they see it. The truth is, I don’t use it that often and phone credit lasts me a long time. I consider it an improvement on the so called “smart phone” that I mothballed over a year ago. Suffice to say, the phone is for my convenience, and when I use it I balance the utility of it rather than the cumulative harm it may cause if I lived to be a thousand years old. I have the same attitude towards wi-fi. I will temporarily switch on to download to a Kindle Reader then switch back off.
The possibility of influencing people with this “initiative” is unlikely. The convenience of the technology overwhelms whatever residual intelligence our brainwashed communities still possess.
The promotion of these “initiatives” – just using cash on Fridays was another one – are unrealistic and attempt a centralised form of telling people what to do. These “telling people what to do” initiatives lack the hierarchy mobilising effects of money. Consequently, as I have learned myself, we are engaged in asymmetrical warfare with the establishment. The weapons of the truth seeking are patience and time, along with the realisation that anything abrupt and abrasive can be used as grist for the mill of those who use and perpetuate ignorance. Those appreciative of the harms of radiation can seek to minimise our usage of this technology and be aware of proximity to it.
I strongly considered standing in the local elections and leveraging the problems of cell mast radiation and vaccination harm. As I have found to my cost before though, the intellects of the many trail those of the very few who give serious attention to these problems considerably. When I attempted a “Stand In The Park” nearby me the image of a masked woman on one of the outdoor exercise machines will never leave me.
Saving oneself is the only thing I can recommend.
LOL! This pledge reminds of communism … fantastic on paper!
I’m not arguing against the author’s point that these devices and the microwave radiation that goes with them is not harmful. But let’s always stay grounded in the world of reality … not some utopian la-la land.
Cell phones, internet wifi, etc … are here to stay. Just like you’re never going to get people to abandon light bulbs and go back to candles, or bring the family van to the pound, and buy a couple of horses and a carriage on the way back home … you’re not going to succeed with this or that pledge or any information campaign. It’s a sad reality we just have to accept.
I have a cell phone, but very seldom use it. By “seldom” I mean 4-5 texts per month, if even that, and one to two outgoing calls, at most. However, I’m probably in an extreme minority. For the vast and overwhelming majority of people **everywhere** (from the gleaming sky scrapers of Manhattan to some small village in Afghanistan or Zimbabwe), cell phones have become like another body part … inseparable from the whole.
No point crying over spilt milk.
A noble aim, but it’s full of technical errors. Jesus, if you want to change the world then get your facts straight.
A mobile phone does NOT emit the same level of radiation as a cell tower. Furthermore, the level of radiation emitted depends entirely on the service used.
It is perfectly possible to keep cell phones but not microwave your brain, or the birds, this is a much more acheivable aim than asking the plebs to discard their iPhones (how to start a actually revolt methinks)

Got £20,000 to burn have you? Because that’s what it costs to put your name on the voting slip.
This article makes me think of max sunning himself in mexico telling everyone to save themself in the same way. You cannot get rid of your mobile phone if you’re a normal person, because you won’t be able to access your bank account. I notice the author lives in sunny new mexico and accepts donations. You can see how rich people think through his campaign (that’ll not even be noticed by anyone). He sits on his porch with his books and his gun, watching the world go by, and thinks “let’s save the world by getting rid of something we don’t use anyway, and maybe we can make some money out of it too”. If I were to suggest he saves the world by getting rid of his “truck”, he’d tear my head off. Not to mention all those plane journeys and pollutants he pours down his drains every time he flushes the toilet or uses the washing machine or dishwasher. This pick and choose is what all the “I’m doing my bit for the planet” people do. The one thing they choose is a miniscule part of the mass of destruction they cause, mostly by proxy, and it’s always something they don’t use anyway. Of course, around here, we’re supposed to think the planet benefits from humans and there’s an endless amount of space and resources. The other day there was a commenter on here who said that because he gets to drive through endless canadian greenery the entire planet is dying thing is a lie. I’d like him to go live in the middle of birmingham or london for a few years and then see what he thinks. Or better yet, at the end of one of the millions of sewage pipes out in the ocean or right next to a nuclear power station.
I agree with both Simon Smith and Mike D. I purchased a Electromagnetic Radiation Tester and would advise anyone, to get one so not fall into a trap of scaremongering or false information. I found that wi-fi was a far greater threat to my health and that of my dog, then a cell phone. I removed wi-fi from my home. What a difference it made to my health, but to late for my four legged friend of thirteen years
As much as i know your right,getting 15 billón people to ditch their phones is an impossible task.we humans tend to think ahhhh I’ll be ok,until the worst happens.unfortunately we are just like the frog in the pot of cold water,happily sitting there taking a nice jacuzzi whilst the heat gradually gets turned up and we are boiled to death.
A no phone day is okay with me because I don’t own one and never have. I have just an old flip phone for emergency use only. From what I saw looking around today, no one paid attention to it and no doubt had never realized this was a no phone day, as I suspected when I heard about the idea.

“Got £20,000 to burn have you? Because that’s what it costs to put your name on the voting slip.”
You are talking out of your anus.
And as I said, it is not something I NOW intend…
Evolution is not a positive thing but a fight between opposites, and one of the two sides in the battle is creating a new dimension, an escape-route for himself, and this beginning of it is called the internet, an equivalent of creating maleness, but a few steps later. Technical problems get solved
Correction: the internet is a hybrid, like LGBT, and the male side will not like it
To Simon Smith–I still use a Nokia from 2004, bought in 2012 off a Paki for too much, and people laugh at that too, especially with the Sellotape holding it together
