For years it has been rumoured in London and Washington that elements of the mainstream media were working in direct collusion with Western intelligence. It was for the mutual benefit of both the intelligence community and those journalists who agreed to comply.
Working to the dictates laid out by intelligence, journalists would write speculative articles that were often little more than fiction.
A prime example of this was all the articles about Saddam Hussein’s Weapons of Mass Destruction that appeared in the run-up to the Iraq invasion. Remember them? It’s now evident that they were all completely baseless.
However, they did what was required. They helped persuade the public that Saddam Hussein was a threat that had to be dealt with.
In return, those journalists who are prepared cooperate in the trade-off are given insider info and tip-offs. Any journalist who is ambitious enough or simply values his job will more than likely comply.
Now we are seeing a similar routine with the war in Ukraine.
Following Russian allegations that Kiev was preparing to use a nuclear bomb in a staged blast that would be blamed on Moscow – a “false flag” – the Western media has gone into overdrive in an effort to discredit those allegations. Or at least divert attention from them.
Just look at the front-page of some of Britain’s leading newspapers this morning.
In effect, Russia claims that the West is deliberately trying to orchestrate an event that could culminate in WWII. So you would think it would be THE lead item.
Yet there’s not a word of it on the front pages of Britain’s leading newspapers. Those articles about it that have appeared are on the inside pages and are derisive and dismissive. Like the following, which does not investigate any of the Russian claims.
Instead, it does its utmost to smear and belittle them without any serious examination. As such, it is a prime piece of propaganda that was probably written to specifications dictated by British intelligence.

With his conventional warfare campaign failing, the Russian leader is reaching for ever more desperate tactics.
Putin’s conventional army is being defeated by a much smaller force, albeit one backed by the west’s latest technology and intelligence. His ridiculous claim that Ukraine is planning to use a “dirty bomb” – an explosive device containing radioactive material – implies he is now groping towards more unconventional methods of warfare.
This is unsurprising when we see how poorly the Russian army is performing, which presumably Putin is also seeing. Putin’s response has been to appoint General “Armageddon” Surovikin as his overall commander in Ukraine, and the dirty bomb allegation is right out of Surovkin’s playbook.
The “dirty” bomb concept is a complete chimera – a fantasy designed to terrify people in Ukraine and allow Russia to escalate its unconventional warfare. The claim has been dismissed by France, Britain and the US, and the UN is sending inspectors at Ukraine’s request to two nuclear sites to prove it is baseless . There has never been a successful dirty bomb attack. But their psychological impact is 10 times greater than their physical effect, and Putin must be hoping this will break the will of the Ukrainians.
