The Commander of the Iranian Army’s Air Force has confirmed that the Islamic Republic is seeking to purchase Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets from Russia.
Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi said on Monday that buying Su-35s is on the agenda of the Air Force but the country has no plans to buy Sukhoi Su-30s, both developed from Sukhoi Su-27 which was a Soviet-origin twin-engine supermaneuverable fighter aircraft. Su-35 is single-seat but Su-30 is a two-seat, multi-role fighter.
According to reports, the Army’s Air Force needs at least 64 aircraft, 24 of which will come from Egypt’s order which remained undelivered due to US pressure on Cairo.
Tehran-Moscow deals for drones, satellites and other aviation equipment have been increasing in recent months. Russia not only launched a satellite for Iran in August, but its personnel were also reportedly sent to train on Iranian military drones to use in Ukraine.
As tensions remain high between Washington and Tehran, the United States military said earlier in the day that it flew a pair of nuclear-capable B-52 long-distance bombers over the Middle East in a show of force, the latest such mission in the region as tensions remain high between Washington and Tehran.
The bombers took off from the Royal Air Force base at Fairford, England, and flew over the eastern Mediterranean, the Arabian Peninsula and the Red Sea on Sunday in training missions together with Kuwaiti and Saudi warplanes. Three Israeli F-16 fighter jets accompanied the American bombers “through Israel’s skies on their way to the Persian Gulf,” the Israeli military said, describing the country’s cooperation with the US military as key to “maintaining aerial security in Israel and the Middle East.”

According to western propaganda:
1- Russia has become so weak that they need drone from a weak country like Iran.
2- Iran’s drones are cheap, inaccurate, buggy, not even close to what the US, NATO and Zion have to offer but somehow these drones “unpleasant”!
The truth however is that Iran is a top drone and missile power if not the drone-superpower and Russia has not even started the war as Putin said there is no rush, probably he is waiting for the winter, because Ukraine is now the collective NATO.
About drones:
One of the reasons for accuracy of Iran’s missiles and drones is the use of advanced Fiber-Optic-Gyros used in Inertial Navigation Systems; helping the onboard computer (usually a basic calculator for none AI capable drones) to calculate angular speed and acceleration on 3 axis independently and with unmatched precision. These have no moving parts and therefore are very resistant to vibration and pressure; while cheap to make, however for them to work properly they need to be “calibrated” which is not easy, it is essentially based on an optical fiber loop with polarized light going through it, one for each axis.
Now there are rumors that Russia has already received 1500 of Shahed 136 and order another 1500! This is massive industrial level production capacity. There are indications that some of the parts maybe in found in black market or in dual use stuff. However the variety and scale of Iran’s drone industry is such that one has to agree probably most of the stuff are manufactured internally. Iran has over ~170 types of drones and many missiles… most of the stuff sanctioned and it is not a viable scenario for an industry of this scale to rely on “black market”.
Also note that Iran’s Arash-2 suicide drone is specially made for Israel and is not for export for obvious reasons. Apparently Mohajer-6 drone too in the last couple of days has been seen in Ukraine… if however US or Israel bring their new anti-small/medium drone radars and countermeasures, we might then see other stealthy variants such as Shahed-191 to be used.

Pissing in the wind, militarily speaking. The 4 and 4+ generation fighters are basically fish in a barrel when flying against F-22 and F-35 of which there are approximately 1000 already in service within the US-NATO and peripheral nations.
Scoffing and parroting nonsense propaganda is a foolish feel good response to the terrible facts and the fact is these 4, 4+, 4++ jets have a life expectancy of maybe 15 minutes when engaging F-35 and F-22. Fact is 95% of them will never even see, visually or on radar, the F-35 that shot them down. Currently there are some 750 F-35 in service and approximately 3000 are planned for. Just the horrible facts, ma’am.
As for drones there are already secret and not so secret countermeasures for one or a swarm. Including lasers, advanced jamming systems and microwave pulse generators which can down an entire swarm in one fell swoop. Here’s one (that we know of).

Seriously? The F22 hasn’t been produced in ages while the F35,despite being the most expensive weapon system ever produced and billions of $ over budget still has countless of “minor” issues and seven major issues,such as trying to kill their pilots and not being able to fly anywhere near a storm due to it’s “sensitive” electronics that even Lockheed Martin admitted can’t ever be resolved.
In fact the F35 is such a great aircraft that even the pilots hate it.
On the other hand it’s been a huge success for the US MIC as it’s one of their best money spinners..

It will take time to deliver and to train pilots and groundcrew. It is very possible that USrael will attack Iran during that interval.
Although the US undoubtedly fears the deployment of SU-35’s, the purchase could be a mistake – investing in a small number of big ticket items is putting all your eggs in one basket. Iran has so far deflected attack by USrael by its development of sophisticated drones and ground to air missiles. That is probably the path to follow.
Pete, c’mon man! I don’t think you actually know what 5-th generation really is and what it means. This is 7 years ago and they haven’t been twiddling their thumbs in the interim.
