When I found three inches of water on the basement floor I decided not to tell the little woman.
My wife would just overreact as some women do. I would handle it like a real man.
What happened next makes a funny anecdote.
by Henry Makow PhD
I would handle it like a real man, so I hired one, my friend John.
John is a professional handyman. He does plumbing, painting, roofing, you name it.
He came over with a pump and in no time the water was being transferred from the floor to a basement sink. John left the pump and went to his next job.
After an hour, I went down to the basement and was amazed that the water had not gone down at all!
Humans lost some more DNA to the Jews, then.
this happens with all PHDs +
intelectuals !
A little DIY is good for the likes of the many of us who post here. It put you in contact with the physical world and gives you a rest from mental cogitations.
Tools are a good investment if you have spare cash as well. Some trimmers, pruners, and a lawnmower are good for inflation hedging…
nice one Henry we needed some humour to lighten things a bit
i am a Henry |Makow fan
he came in for a lot of criticism over his Hitler nonsense but listen guys hes back on track !
Simon Smith–I bought a chisel, some allen keys and a sharpening tool last week all for a quid
PHD’s – acronym for Piled High and Deeper.
Henry Makow : “My wife is only half-jewish so she is capable of fixing things”. 🤣
@ Stephen LOL outstanding!
Those were some rather bold admissions from Henry 🙂 You have a keeper there, Henry.
My girl is pretty much useless at diagnosing or fixing any sort of mechanical issue, despite the fact she is quite brilliant in several other areas. I completely tore my bicep two weeks ago and am still doing most of the work in the house.
@ Simon…
Yes… spent 7 years renovating an old Tudor barn (ruin) in the middle of nowhere …Lived in it all the way through (off and on. mainly on)… at first in a little caravan… and then slowly as l worked my way through.. on flag floors and scaffold… an old friend reeling from divorce and bankruptcy held the other end of the tape measure and brewed the beer…
A labour of love… and eight tons of lime later an odyssey of discovery and hospital visits… (you can also now drive your car straight into the living room if you are in a bit of a rush)…
@Lewis
“I bought a chisel…”
You’re probably a chip off the old block mate…
@Chesterton
Well done.
I always admire the big projects of engineering and architecture; the way different skills combine and tasks are delegated. We forget of the genius of our ancestors. There are many unsung heroes in our past. I worked as a gas fitter’s mate after doing a plumbing qualification for about a year. It was to late in life to take it up as an occupation, but during the experience I felt I was doing a real man’s job. Trades are greatly underrated IMO. If I had a son I would encourage him to consider the skilled trades.
Should be:
“We forget the genius of our ancestors.”
“It was too late in life …”
