China launched its third aircraft carrier on Friday, the Fujian, named after the province opposite self-ruled Taiwan, sending a statement of intent to rivals as it modernises its military.
President Xi Jinping has made overhauling the world’s largest armed forces a central part of his agenda, seeking to project power well beyond China’s shores, though the government says it has no hostile intent.
Champagne, colourful ribbons, water cannons and smoke were deployed to celebrate the carrier’s launch and official naming at a ceremony at the Jiangnan shipyard in Shanghai, state media reported.
Dozens of navy personnel lined up in front of the ship and sang the national anthem at the ceremony, which was attended by senior officials including Xu Qiliang, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission.
The aircraft carrier features a full-length flight deck with a catapult launch system, according to state media.
The Fujian will join the Shandong, commissioned in late 2019, and the Liaoning, which China bought second-hand from Ukraine in 1998 and refitted domestically.
China is still honing its ability to operate the carriers, and integrate them into battle groups, something the United States has been doing for decades.
Only the United States, with 11 aircraft carriers, has more of the vessels.
The Fujian’s launch demonstrates the military’s increasing capability at a time of rising tension with the United States over Chinese-claimed Taiwan and Beijing’s claims to the South China Sea.
The coastal province of Fujian is just across the Taiwan Strait from Taiwan and home to the Eastern Theatre Command of the People’s Liberation Army.
Taiwan is a thriving democracy but China considers the island its own territory and has never renounced the use of force to bring it under its control.
A senior Taiwan official familiar with the island’s security planning told Reuters that with the new carrier China was flagging to the region its intentions about projecting power well into the Pacific.
“In the future, they want to directly penetrate to the east of the first island chain, which includes Japan’s Ryukyu Islands and the Pacific waters off Taiwan’s east,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
“Any regional cooperation is seen by Beijing as an intervention in the Taiwan issue or a challenge to China. The launch of the new carrier is a defiant statement.”
Taiwan has been modernising its own armed forces, including putting into service a new class of highly agile stealth warships, which Taiwan refers to as an “aircraft carrier killer” due to its missile complement.
Taiwan’s defence ministry said in a statement sent to Reuters about the new carrier that it “attaches great importance” to China’s military developments and “incorporates this into enemy situation research in a forward-looking manner”.

The thing is, on peer warfare carriers are redundant. They serve as status symbols.
Let’s say China invades Taiwan after several weeks of missile strikes and bombing raids. Chinese missile ships are armed with deadly accurate 2000km missiles, and they’ve got them in huge number.
No US carrier can get within combat range unless the use refueling tankers, and this is a huge risk, because if these tankers get taken out, all those prissy F35, & whatnot are ditching in the sea. That’s a possible $1,000,000,000 loss for one sorte.
If the US uses any of its Pacific bases, including those in Japan, they are going to be showered in missiles.
It should be said that if you think these new Chinese warships are somewhat second rate compared to what the US has, they you’d be very wrong. They are just as well built and armed as any US carrier. China also has the world’s largest navy by absolute tonnage. But the US has larger boats. The US fleet is spread all over the globe, so in the Western Pacific, China is the big dog.
Taiwan is a domestic issue, it has nothing to do with Amerika, and once again, the US has regional power in the Western Pacific, because of thicko sheeple in Japan and other countries who tolerate US occupation. There’s nothing like having a bunch of drugged up rapists in your country.
America will send weapons “and stuff” to Taiwan. China will send a great big new aircraft carrier.
It’s odd how the US says China must not project its military into the South China Sea … but to reinforce its demand the US must project its military into the South China Sea. But if China limits this carrier to the Taiwan Straits and South China Sea in a limited conflict not involving other countries then the US cannot help to sink it. If it does then that’s WWIII without a doubt. But in the case of this carrier, unlike the vessels of other navies which the US was prepared to risk in the Persian Gulf for example, surely no other navy will risk its vessels and the threat of war against an angry China by sinking this carrier; so the US will have to sink this one itself and it’s unlikely it has the courage or capacity for such a war.
The US no longer has a military of note, just groups of well-armed brigands and pirates.
Unless my eyes are deceiving me, it sure looks like all those faggots, er I mean sailors, in the photo at the top have diapers strapped to their faces. I would normally suggest anyone so stupid should be laughed out of the room, but I know what I do when encountering the very rare face diaper wearing imbecile in my area and that is to give them a wide berth and avoid them because that diaper on their yap is a clear signal to the world they are completely deranged.
If Taiwan goes, it is a planned as the transfer of Hong Kong. China like Russia is a NWO player. Even in this photo of launching you see all of sailors lined up wearing Covid masks. Why Covid masks? Even Gates recently has had to admit that the only people every at any real risk from that virus were the very elderly and those with severe immune-compromising ailments. Both the US, the rest of the West, China and Russia followed in lockstep all the directions of the very same financial power which happens to control them.
Everything big happening now is totally panned, years in advance, even the war in the Ukraine. Who then do they want to fool? Us – most of the common people everywhere who neither want to be subject to their visions or the methods they use to bring them about.
the next one they should name TAIWAN
and write on big transparents :
WE CAME IN PEACE FOR ALL
MANKIND !
Once again I can name that tune in one word – Seawolf.
The USA service men are seen as a bunch of nancy boys and poofters
thats why the White house sent weapons not soldiers
but it was maggie thatcher who closed down all our industry and sent it to the far east on rothschilds orders, thatcher built up chine on ur money
@Daniel Tokley…just as Richard Nixon and the Jew Kissinger and his tribal buddies help awaken the so-called sleeping Panda
They should have called this useless vanity piece and sitting crispy duck..
杜姆岩藻 (the Dum Fucs)…
@Fred B. Of course China and Russia are NWO players. All these wars and war games are part of the planned dystopia which is getting much nearer. It all looks chaotic, from Covid, to Ukraine to shortages etc, but it is all very well organised and orchestrated, by all the Satanists in charge. TBH, if God doesn’t intervene, the Georgia Guidestone population wishlist is a dead cert. Gonna be Hell until those 7th Cavalry arrive, and they won’t have blue uniforms and carry Winchesters, to kick arse.
Thatcher was most likely a crypto jew….or perhaps her husband?.
The zio-fiends are going to fuck up Ukraine for sure.
As mentioned Thatchler fucked up British industry.
As far as a major war is concerned, aircraft carriers are obsolete. Their sole remaining use is to provide portable runways so you can bomb small countries that can’t shoot back.
As someone here noted, what’s with all those starched Chinese navy boys doing with masks on? Really? If the Chinese win the next war(and they likely will), mask wearing will be mandatory forever.
Quote: About 200 years ago, Napoleon Bonaparte warned the world about China when he said,
“China is a sleeping giant, let her sleep, for when she wakes, she will shake the world.”
The uniformity of the Chinks would make me vomit if I thought about it. They amount to a 3D printer, as the Han have liquidated the other 50 tribes cos dem difrunt, and all they can do is be a carbon copy of us, the masters they pretend don’t exist, in their alien brains
