The US Propaganda Movie Machine sure dome the trick on me when this movie came out. It was a good movie, corny in parts, but overall I found it cool.
They definitely don’t make movies like that at all.

What I find a little beguiling is that, for an actor, who is no more than a competent journeyman, Tom Cruise has worked with an unlikely number of acknowledged greats of film direction. Renowned masters of cinema, like; Francis Ford Coppola, Stanley Kubrick, Franco Zeffirelli, Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott, Michael Mann, Brian De Palma, Stephen Spielberg, Sydney Pollack, Oliver Stone and John Woo, among others. That’s quite an impressive roster of film-makers (whether you should like their movies or not.) There must be a lot of Operating Thetans in the Hollywood studios.
Yet, too often, Cruise is miscast in roles which are inappropriate to his physical stature.
Whoever chose Tom Cruise for the role of Jack Reacher, for example, must have been knowingly taking the piss. In Lee Child’s novels, Jack Reacher is a 36 year old, 6 ft 5 inch tall, man-mountain. Tom Cruise is 5 ft 7 inches tall and was 50 when he first played Reacher.
