Are we being gaslighted by Henry, Hugo and others on this site? Or, are we being gaslighted by the Western top-down order in their governance of us and regarding the totality of our history. Supposedly as truth seekers we are trying to determine the truth with respect to issues we regard as most important to us. When our governments and the media dish out figures on Covid deaths which prove to be false and the purpose appears to be to scare us half to death and to lock out of sight all our basic rights and freedoms, and then we discover one blatant lie after another paving the way for the imposition of a universal vaccine program with vaccines which not only have no medicinal value whatsoever but are also found to be seriously harmful and even lethal in many cases, I sort of guess we can say we have been gaslighted and dying off like flies from the hot air emissions and mandates of our slave masters.
But the idea of ‘gaslighting’ although not seeming to be very “ethical” (i.e. lacking in etiquette) is clearly not something to get people up in arms about or even to motivate them to demand the truth from those entrusted with authority over them. Perhaps it would be stronger to hold that all of the crimes heinous against humanity committed by our betters in their abuses of power over us during the past 100 years or so are traceable to the tort of “fraudulent misrepresentation” in which a false representations have been deliberately made, or without belief in their truth, or recklessly, resulting in some kind of significant damages or harms. However, if the common law is all we have to check the abuses of those in power running off to the courts for any real redress against them will be a fools errand.
We all seem to want to see, preserve, or change things according to our principles, values or beliefs and to convince or influence others who disagree with us. We tend to question, challenge and raise doubts against opposing positions to the extent that we believe we can change anything. As soon as things become polarized and political it all becomes a football game and we take sides. We tend to ignore facts which go against our interests and exaggerate the importance of those which advance our position. This is called advocacy. Simply put, it would seem that depending on the circumstances most people think they have a right to lie to others to varying degrees.
If for instance the entire West was living far beyond it means, over consuming, gobbling up every resource on the planet, living on credit and deficit financing, engaging in wars and exploits they cannot afford, all indulged and promoted by the ruling powers, and then with free trade and a quickly expanding world economy with huge, huge trade deficits every year created by the importing of zillions in low-cost foreign goods, then why is it that those ruling Western power elites who clam to own over 76% of the assets of the entire globe, who vastly increased their wealth and power by promoting free trade and exploiting such low-cost labor and our markets, are the ones to continue ruling through their UN and WEF globalist plans and resets? Have they not caused enough harm?
We have been lied to, duped, gaslighted, defrauded and grossly deceived by their methods to concentrate and consolidate more and more power into their hands resulting in a long list of high crimes, including their endless and contrived debt-rigging practices and unjust wars, their fake perils from CO2 to Covid all to bring about their UN-WEF top-down New World Order. Most insiders on this bandwagon would say “yes”, it is absolutely necessary to deceive and brainwash us with their whopper lies, to manipulate, control, and gaslight us. and even to blow out the light and to gas us to death in the dark if it is decided there are too many of us -as long as they believe it is for our bests interests or the good of the planet and subject to their exclusive knowledge. This must be the case because the powers who are running things refuse even to debate these issues or to try them openly and fairly in the court of public opinion. They simply ignore all evidence which goes contrary to their will as if to ascend to any position of influence in our civilization you had better be a follower of both Machiavelli and Nietzsche, as well as a total sycophant to those with the power and the money.
Are the Jews to blame for all the wrongs we see, or are people such as Henry scapegoating them, and why if he is Jewish? Are we being manipulated, or is he saying that Talmudic Judaism in control of the leading money-power tribe is the problem, or is it that a certain measure of hate and persecution is necessary to ensure a strong independence and solidarity to survive for millennia as a distinct tribe? But what do the remarks do to innocent Jews who want none of this?
Do people really think they will be any more free from lies and distortions coming from people in positions of power by getting rid of Jews? These deceptions coming from people in positions of power which Henry refers to, if they are in fact true, seem more to come from simply abusing ones wealth and power over others. Lord Acton, a devout Catholic said that “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely”. One tends to agree when there is evidence of the abuse of power, but wielding power over others is not evil in itself and in fact is a necessity if we are to have any laws or government. Is the root of the problem we have as humans that tendency to fall into corruption – the tendency we all have to be dishonest without the proper checks and balances in our lives – the tendency we have to judge in our own interests and not to render each his due?
Every choice we make is dependent on some kind of power and there can be no choice without knowledge of alternatives, and knowing the facts. The power that is missing for us today is the knowledge crucial for us to make rational and reasonable decisions regarding our vital interests. The Covid vaccine mandates is just one example of this. It is the constant abuse by the power brokers of our age preventing and interfering with our right to know the facts relating to our vital interests and which enable us to make rational and responsible decisions which is responsible for all of the hopelessness, powerlessness, uncertainty and fragmentation we see around us today, and enable them to pull off such stunts as the Covid fraud and the war in the Ukraine.

Although it’s commendable that you should at last dare to speak critically of Henry Makow, I don’t think that the term “gaslighting” accurately describes the character of Hugo or Henry’s journalism. In order to gaslight someone, the perpetrator paces his devices, plotting to steadily undermine the psyche of the victim. It is stealth cruelty. Gaslighting involves repeated actions, calculated to evince distresses; of mental disaffection, of an erosion in personal confidence and exacerbation of anxieties, in order to precipitate a psychiatric/ nervous breakdown. I can’t see that either of the two men aforementioned are gaslighting their audience.
Now, I most certainly wouldn’t want to give the impression that I am defending Henry Makow. (I’m indifferent to Hugo Talks’ blandishments.) I doubt Mr. Makow’s sincerity in his advocacy, frankly and his attitude toward women is reprehensibly icky. Homo Neanderthalis was more chivalrous and gentlemanly than Makow can manage. Yet, compendia of alarming news notices can’t be said to amount to techniques of gaslighting.
The relentless chicanery of the public narrative and the glut of novel bearings constantly jinxing clarity of discourse are somewhat assailing, it’s true. Who welcomes further complications, in an already elaborate knit of covert offensive strategems.
Disclosure, inevitably involves exhaustive examination of all possible permutations or insinuations suggested by a current in the news, even if you suspect that the narrative has been constructed to that very purpose. This will inevitably lead to error, as much as it does to revelation. This is an unprecedented, multi-disciplinary weave of belligerent engagements, sustained by intricate predictive contingencies, gamed exhaustively deploying sophisticated probability modelling. This craftful theatre of trap doors and studied distractions has been designed to jar upon the patience of the observer with myriad misdirection until, it is hoped, the citizen is overwhelmed by the daunting medley of uncertainty faced in merely orienting accurately.
Alternative news sites clamour to apocrypha, colourful scurrilousness and scandal too. Hosts curate their features from a much wider pool of sources than the mainstream and this can make them the more vulnerable to hoaxes or to being more credulously disposed toward seeded misinformation.
A complaint that I’ve made about Makow in the past, is that he seems sometimes to take his sources upon trust, without any preliminary background check. Someone replied when I last made such a complaint, that it was commonly understood, that with regard to breaking news, or a news scoop, in the alternative press, that fuller investigation of the source might be on-going and that it was for the reader to assist in ascertaining the reliability of the piece. A worthy expression of autonomy perhaps but a view I disagreed with.
What is concealed to one person might be immediately conspicuous to another and there should be at least a second opinion availed for surity of vetting and oversight.
Printing any old shit isn’t gaslighting. It might, however, be its evil twin, Gatekeeping, in which case there is a purposed agenda – a knowledge filter for the dissemination of selected themes; the weighting of news items to exaggerate or marginalize the importance of a topic, (presumably as directed to;) to confound the reader with tangential minutiae; and to conflate by association or juxtaposition, disparate features, which have no actual bearing on one another.
There is one aspect of Henry Makow’s journalism which could legitimately be described as gaslighting because whether its intention is ultimately worthy or not, it risks engendering cynicism, underming trust and disaffecting the novitiate. I’m referring to the repertory of character actors that he hosts; the most egregious of whom, is that purveyor of satanic mockeries, the harum scarum emissary of Moloch, the quite outlandishly audacious artifice, Aloysius Fozdyke.

I’m an absolutest for truth. I’m surprized by the lack of faith apparent in your assumption that “most people seem to believe they have the right to lie to others to varying degrees.” I can tell you unequivocally that I don’t believe I have any such right. We might spare the truth to a child or choose discretion where you anticipate that candour could cause another’s distress. At worst we may not be fully forthcoming in our disclosures to the authorities, such as Revenue Agencies, for example, but even though its not edifying to do so, it seems to me that is less about deceit than self-defense.
When we seek to persuade, we should not advocate but educate, I should say. Otherwise, adversarial public debate, without a formal setting, is more likely to inflame contentions rather than inspire any heartfelt reappraisal of the issues and can lead as easily to fisticuffs.
Ideologically-bound beliefs often provoke ready aggressions. With respect to one prominent controversy, I made a decision, years ago, not to advocate for my belief and to only give my opinion if asked directly, in which case, I tell the truth – that I am pro-life.
In this one area alone, I have voluntarily disenfranchised myself because simply, I don’t think it’s within my rights to intervene to advise a woman upon a dilemma which I will never experience and am not essentially equipped to understand. It strikes me as an impertinence to pitch my sentiment in a domain which is rightly a woman’s own. I’d sooner leave that task to women anti-abortionists, to make their sororal appeals. It may be quietude or evasion, on my part but nevertheless, it isn’t the speaking of deceits.
Just some musings upon your musings, I guess. Don’t let aggravated dishonesty agitate you, Fred. No doubt there’s plenty of shit yet that they intend to fling our way. On the bright side, though, we can always build ourselves some defenses; poop-build barricades .
