I read that the blue and yellow were chosen for the Ukraine over a hundred years ago, and know that mid blue has long been a standard uniform colour within the NHS, but coincidentally, yellow was chosen to complement it throughout the pandemic. I agree with Hugo that it is too much of a coincidence that these two crises, one seamlessly following the other, have the same colour motif. An octave is a doubling of frequency. 55Hz 110Hz 220Hz 440Hz etc. What does multiplying by 40 octaves mean? Why was 372.52 not doubled first? And what is the reasoning for using 40?

If you take the frequency value of the note of F as 372.52 Hz and double it, you get its octave, which resonates, therefore, at 745.04 Hz. You then continue to double that frequency a further 39 times to arrive at the frequency at which red light is generated, which is 4.095 to the power of 14. The authors themselves prefer the term 40 octaves.
It isn’t easy to perceive in the abstract, perhaps, but I have the advantage of having the book in front of me, with its splendid colour illustrations, diagraming the light-sound connection. The graphic props are very useful to someone like myself, who is predominantly a visual learner. I confess that I read the book quite a long time ago and its not the freshest of accounting on my part.
I guess the authors would have tested other multipliers before discovering that 40 was the correct number of times to double the frequency, to confirm their hypothesis. This couldn’t be demonstrated on a musical instrument, though – not unless you had a guitar with a neck several miles long, or a piano with a few millions keys. Theoretically, it’s absolutely solid however.
The process of discovery was quite a lengthy one for the two authors but, in short, they discovered a mathematical relationship between Alexander Thom’s megalithic yard and a sound frequency just above the musical key of C#. Their scale is therefore calibrated to this frequency, which is close to the concert pitch of C#. It was in exploring these ideas, that their “Eureka” moment must have shaken them and they discovered the mathematically elegant formula for frequency attenuation of music into light.
I hope that Christopher Knight and Alan Butler weren’t in the same bath at the time, though.

To O–Colin Wilson used to like writing about T C Lethbridge who used a pendulum to douse different substances. Each length in inches resonated with something different. At 40 inches it reached Death, but did not stop there–he got octaves and other things beyond Death, and the lengths are a frequency, too, of course. I too was introduced to the work of T. C. Lethbridge by the great teacher, Colin Wilson. I subsequently went on to read Lethbridge’s “Gogmagog” and “The Legend Of The Sons Of God” – the latter of which was the first of his books dealing with his dowsing experiments. Despite having a laminated facsimile of Lethbridge’s scale of pendulum rates on a cork board in my kitchen, I hadn’t made the connection with Knight and Butler’s work, which you recognized. The commonality of the 40 multiple certainly seems to have resonance.
Alexander Thom’s megalithic yard is 2.72 ft; his megalithic inch is 0.816 imperial inches. There are therefore 40 megalithic inches to a megalithic yard. Although the traditional imperial measure used by Lethbridge is fractionally greater than Thom’s measure, it might be that Thom’s interval would also serve as a unit for Lethbridge’s pendulum rates.

The crises of Venus retrograde, however, also afford, it is said, the opportunity of a purgation and a new start. In essence, therefore, Venus retrograde is analogous to a “minor” death and rebirth cycle in horoscopy. This is rather suggestive of Lethbridge’s 40″ death dowsing.
Alexander Thom, using his megalithic yard as the base, measured the equatorial circumference of the Earth as 366 units of arc, which is the same as the number of days in a sidereal year. Thom’s megalithic unit (rounded up) is roughly one fifth short of the imperial unit of measure. I was interested to discover, after a quick calculation, therefore, that the sidereal day and the tropical day are 3 minutes and 54 seconds apart, which represents roughly one fifth of a one percent differential over twenty four hours.
Interesting coincidences certainly but they cannot really be said to be anything more, without further investigation.
I’ve practised dowsing, on and off, for quite a number of years now and I’ve had a good many successes in locating lost items for friends, for example.
I guess the next step would be testing to determine whether Thom’s megalithic inch serves as a compatible or improved scale for Lethbridge’s pendulum rates. This wouldn’t be a difficult experiment to mount. I might try it at home soon. Anyone could try it.

To andyay–I sometimes listen to the very enthusiastic Australian Charles Kos, and he recently felt that he had updated Thom by going back to rods and chains, a chain being a tenth of a furlong, which is an eighth of a mile. I got obsessed with imperial measures a few years ago and you find there are two overlapping systems. I could not work out which one came first. Thomas Jefferson did this too; it is one of these deep rabbit holes.
I think Charles Cos is quite good. His videos are a bit slap-dash but at least he’s an original thinker and doesn’t just reiterate other people’s ideas. I would be fairly sure that he suffers from a milder form of Tourette’s Syndrome, by his disposition.
Alexander Thom also used a megalithic rod among his calibrations. Thomas Jefferson used the 22 by 3 yards measure of a cricket square to apportion and allot the territories of colonial America.
