My friends landlord explained today why he served a Notice to Quit at the weekend despite my friend being a good tenant for 8 years. In return for housing asylum seeker(s) the l/lord says he has been offered a £3k grant towards their deposit by central govt and a £1k welcome ‘bonus’ grant by local govt.
Council officials also suggested they would accept a £300/month rent increase for housing asylum seekers compared to the amount my friend currently pays.
