They could drag out their investigation indefinitely while looking for a way to permanently dodge the issue. It would be ironic if the investigation was delayed by “covid” illnesses. I put in a complaint to the police with a supposed 14 day response time months ago – I’m still waiting; suffice to say, this is the gambit they played against me.
I would also work with MI5 to see if Mark Sexton has any “history”, and if so release the “revelations” of this “anti vaxxer” to the tabloids to tarnish his reputation.
As time passes by of course, the covid theatre could be redundant if some major war kicks off. Then when something big happens, release some statement about the investigation being over under the cover of this event.

This is a test case for British constitutional law. The police have been provided evidence of a crime. If they choose not to investigate that’s when it gets interesting.
The UK operates Policing by Concent. That means they only hold authority over the people when the people Concent for that authority to be held for them to conduct, well, policing.
If the police are given evidence which they then refuse to investigate, by default they are no longer policing and as such the people can withdraw their concent. All of a sudden the authority of the police disappears and they become a very small handful of people in uniform.
It becomes a bit of a Magna Carta event.
I therefore suspect the police will investigate, but drag their heels and spin it out for as long as possible. Mark and the team are aware of this and actively trying to stop that happening
