Just a rant about non-violence! I left my home in the late 70’s because I no longer wanted to serve in the military, having been conscripted out of school and trained as an infantry officer. My reason was partly disagreement over the cause of the war, and partly because I thought violence to be wrong. I agreed with whoever it was who said “Fighting for peace is like xxxxxxx for virginity”. 40 years later I’m not so sure.
When I see people using their cellphones to make videos of people being arrested by cops regarding the Covid thing I want to say to them “Put down the phone, pick up a baseball bat, or a chair, or whatever, and teach the thugs a lesson”. Bullies don’t stop bullying because people video them. Normally a bloody nose is what does the trick. Fact! I’ve been re-reading the Gita recently and have gotten a bit of a different perspective on what it has to say.
