Anything is possible, could be wrong, but I believe that is where they have located geophones (microphones picking up sounds less than 20 Hz) packaged with suitable telemetry equipment. One in the water is a geophone in a water-tight case.
However, the theory that a man caused event such as landslide by strategically placed explosives of sufficient strength does seem plausible. The mind boggles at an event that supersedes Japan’s 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami that killed over 18,000.

Here is the answer from a local politician in an article a day ago.
They drop a bomb to divert flow, begin a landslide of the weakened surface layer to slough off into the ocean, creating the mega tsunami of the millennia. Absolutely brilliant! (Not!)
I though La Palma tsunami risk was common knowledge in 2004?
Be afraid, be VERY AFRAID…..That’s how we like you to be.
The only thing taking place is that La Palma is being squeezed by the Africa plate roll. Expect more lava flows but that’s it, no tsunami coming here.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/politician-proposes-bombing-la-palma-volcano-as-eruptions-enter-38th-day/ar-AAQ1oTQ : In an interview with Canary Island media outlet Radio Faycán, Casimiro Curbelo said: “Isn’t there a plane that flies and can drop… today the technology is very reliable… and boom! And send the lava in a different direction? Maybe it’s madness, but I get the impression from a technological point of view that it should be attempted.”
