El Paso, Canary Islands — The volcanic eruption on a Spanish island and its aftermath could last for up to 84 days, experts said Wednesday. The Canary Island Volcanology Institute said it based its calculation on the length of previous eruptions on the archipelago, which like the latest eruption were followed by heavy lava flows and lasting seismic activity.
The institute reported that Tuesday night saw a strong increase in the number of smaller eruptions that hurl rocks and cinders high into the air on the island of La Palma, one of the Canary Islands off northwest Africa.
Authorities say that dangers still lie ahead for residents, including earthquakes, lava flows, toxic gases, volcanic ash and acid rain.
Since last Sunday’s eruption, powerful rivers of unstoppable lava nearly 20 feet high have swallowed up 185 buildings, mostly homes in the countryside. The lava now covers about 381 acres, according to the Volcanology Institute.
The lava flows were heading downhill toward the island’s more densely populated coast. Some 1,000 people were evacuated late Tuesday from the neighborhood of Todoque, on the shoreline, bringing the total number of evacuated people to around 6,000.
The meeting of the lava, whose temperature exceeds 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit, with a body of water could cause explosions and produce clouds of toxic gas.
Prompt evacuations have helped avoid any casualties from the eruption, though damage to homes, infrastructure and farmland is significant, officials say.
Emergency services on the island attempted late Tuesday to divert some of the lava by using front-loaders to clear a path for the molten rock to follow, hoping to steer it away from properties. Officials said they didn’t know if it would work.
The volcano has also been spewing out between 8,000 and 10,500 tons of sulfur dioxide, which affects the lungs, every day, the Volcanology Institute said.

So long as the lava keeps flowing (good sign), the pressure gets vented.
The serious problems start when the lava stops and bigger earthquakes follow.
Mind you, despite the local loss of life and the fact that Europe and UK would be hit by tsunamis, I’d be happy to see this island crack open and drown the Eastern US coast.
Volcanic activity, earthquakes are triggered by the Sun. Given that our magnetic field has fallen by 25% over the last 200yrs or so, & most of that fall, over the last 25yrs, more particles reach the surface and mantle. Solar particles also play a role in strokes and heart attacks.
Goes without saying, given the weak MF, the Sun is much more dangerous. Wear sunglasses even when overcast and limit your exposure.
The mid-Atlantic Ridge is the shape of Africa and South America from when they pulled apart, and the only model that seems to work is a growing Earth. The continents all slot together leaving only a small Pacific as ocean, meaning most land was covered in sea, but shrugged its way to the surface. The Canaries are not on that ridge, but still part of that continental sundering.
“The volcano is spewing out between 8000 and 10500 tons of sulfurdioxide per day”
What’s the big deal here? Recently a ESA satellite detected a methane plume over SW Wisconsin, it was venting at a rate of 30 tons an hour..
All that is happening on the Canary islands is a welcome distraction for what’s really going on.
“Authorities say that dangers still lie ahead for residents, including earthquakes, lava flows, toxic gases, volcanic ash and acid rain.” Meh, that’s still better than the toxic sludge covid vaccine…
This piece has the word “experts” in the very first sentence. That term has lost all meaning and credibility since the start of the covid-1984 plandemic. “Experts” now has a negative connotation of exponentially unpleasant implications, akin to having a hobo defecate in your ear. Worse than that, “experts”, has become, for the people still capable of critical thinking, the opposite of what is true; an Orwellian insult, a word synonymous with liar or one with no credibility. Sure, there are some real experts in their fields out there, a good number of them actually, but you certainly will not find them advertised and touted in the corporate mainstream media, otherwise known as the Ministry of Propaganda. If a person is touted by the pathologically lying media as an “expert”, then you can be sure that shameless shill is completely compromised, corrupt to the core, and a lying miscreant.
Only an idiot would think tsunamis would hit the uk
Lewis Jones: dinosaurs could only have walked if the Earth was smaller, less mass, lower gravity allowing heavy dinos to walk. This also follows that as the Earth got larger, more water escaped from the core.
Have we stopped expanding? Will we become a water world?
Balthazar Asquith: thanks, the UK has been hit by tsunamis in the past and modeling on La Palm was done 20yrs ago by a marginal academic and he said Europe and UK would be hit by moderate tsunamis. There is the original documentary. Norway had a massive landside into the sea and Northeast Scotland was hit by a tsunami.
To Carl Jones–an experiment in 1890s France whose results were suppressed found that weights at the end of piano wires hanging down two mine shafts were further apart than the strings at the top, when they had hoped that the convergence would give the exact distance to the centre of the Earth, and one of the few solutions to the enigma was a hollow Earth. I was not able to get my head around that but took it on trust to be Hollow Earth evidence. You would expect this for an expanding Earth whose surface is intact.
No, I did get my head round it okay–the big hole “attracts” less.
@ lewis jones—got link to that 1890 experiment? if we knew the key variables, distances between the mine shafts and the weights and the lengths of piano wires, we could calculate the thickness of the mantle before the hole opens up.
(and it is not so much that *big hole “attracts” less* (sexual connotation notwithstanding ☻) as the fact that the hung weights are attracted by local centres of gravity, which in both cases reside in nearby mass of the mantle—i.e., separate centers relative to the position of the weights, rather than a unified one at the geometric center of the globe)

To lobro–Colin Wilson wrote about the experiment in one of his books. He was exploring the Hollow Earth problem in one of his “mysteries” books but I could not find it last time I tried. Maybe it was Starseekers, about the history of astronomy. Cannot find it there. I did not want to get detailed in my comment. Local centres of gravity would ruin the experiment. I put quotes on “attracts” just in case gravity is a push shadow. If Earth is hollow you get weightless fairly near the surface. Wilson gave anecdotal evidence of that too. Big animals could grow underground and get pushed up in upheavals–also taller people.
C Jones–being smaller will not cause less of a gravitational pull if the mass has stayed the same, but a hollow planet the size of ours can give near-weightlessness as close as 200 miles from the surface.
