I’m starting to suspect some protest groups across the world like Extinction Rebellion are a state-created nuisance to get people sick of protesters with their endless pain-in-the-ass tactics. This could condition the public to resent protesters before lots of people find themselves with a need to protest, so these legitimate movements can be condemned already without addressing the problems that led to their creation.

The oz police could be easily hamstrung with organized covert sabotage. eg. when a protest is organized have teams locating where the police park their vehicles and let the air out of the tyres, make sure to remove the valves. Simple, easy, non violent but don’t take videos of what is done. Use your imagination, much along this line of action can be done without violence, amusing as well.

A useful protest tactic might be to take some control over where the police are deployed, especially in somewhere as big as Australia. Police movements there will take time, but phone calls up and down the country between people monitoring police activity are near-instant. That time lag can be used.
Call demos at the same time in various places (the time zones shouldn’t present a great problem); then once it’s clear where the police are arriving in numbers, call off some demos and leave police in large numbers in places where no demo is happening. It can be decided in the last hour which demos go ahead and which become a ruse. Leave the police chasing ghost demos, so long as protesters know the situation is fluid and their demo may be cancelled. The end result is a few hundred or a few thousand people don’t get to demo on the day but they did get a lot of cops out there. Other demos can then go ahead unmolested if cops can’t disrupt them once they’re spread too thin across a territory.
Social media activity has arranged these flash mobs before, while protesters won’t have to spend money and time getting to state capitals if small local demos take on meaning. At present it’s a police initiative where to deploy but there’s no reason why the people can’t sometimes steal that initiative from them.

I have been following these protests around the world almost daily and even as some claim they are fruitless, I think they are very important. The best thing with protests is that they’ll show people that there is a resistance going on, both bystanders and on the web. No matter how much the media will censor these protests it will break through eventually. With protests people also come together and show that they are not afraid. Goverments (and the elites) hate when people come together to show unity because they know that the only way they can conquer the population is by dividing them in small groups. And when the groups fight between them, the elites continue with their agenda.
Now, after all these protest going on it strikes me that the protesters never use the same tactics as the cops are. A common police tactic is to (like the elites do) divide the protesters in smaller, more manageable groups where they can be 10 cops on each protester. Why not use the same tactics on them? Surround them, divide them, flank them, pelter them with stones and molotov coctails behind them so they have nowhere to run. They would be scared shitless. Slash their tires, burn up cars, put up road blocks, attack the police stations etc to create chaos. Even if this seems to be counter productive, the police will be so exhausted that they will soon beg the protesters to stop…
