Mary Shelley warned us what doctors are capable of if given the chance in her horror story Frankenstein. At that time creating electricity with various wheels and dynamos was something new to explore, and it was at that time a French doctor experimented with animating frogs legs with electrical charge.
Frankenstein isn’t just a good horror yarn but lets us know how far some doctors push experimentation in pursuit of “knowledge”. Mengele is one example who claimed his barbarism was to advance medicine, and when allowed to many doctors will experiment on people deemed by society as not quite so worthy.
When hospitals move away from saving people (or from staying clean) they become some of our most deadly institutions.
