America’s prestigious Harvard University, founded by Puritan settlers almost 400 years ago, has a new chief chaplain – and he doesn’t believe in God.
Greg Epstein, 44, took up the role this week, becoming the first atheist elected president of Harvard’s organization of chaplains.
“I’m obliged and honored,” he wrote on Twitter.
Mr Epstein has been Harvard’s humanist chaplain since 2005 and is the author of the bestselling book “Good Without God: What a Billion Nonreligious People Do Believe”.
He will lead a group of more than 40 chaplains who represent some twenty different religions and beliefs including Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism.
His appointment comes as young people in the United States increasingly identify as spiritual but without a religious affiliation.
“There is a rising group of people who no longer identify with any religious tradition but still experience a real need for conversation and support around what it means to be a good human and live an ethical life,” Mr Epstein told The New York Times.
“We don’t look to a god for answers. We are each other’s answers,” he added.
Mr Epstein did not immediately respond to request for comment from AFP.
A 2019 Pew Research Center study found that the United States remains a predominantly Christian country, with 43% identifying as Protestant and 20% as Catholic.
But more than a quarter of those surveyed (26%) described their religious identity as atheist, agnostic or “nothing in particular,” up from 17% in 2009.
Mr Epstein, born into a Jewish family in New York, has also been the humanist chaplain at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), another major university in the Boston area, since 2018.
Harvard, founded in 1636 to train the Protestant clergy, is the oldest institution of higher education in the United States.

From his Wikipedia web page:
In an interview, Epstein says that being a Humanist Rabbi “means I combine Jewish culture with the belief that this world is all we have”.
In the USA, the elite Jewish controlled media has very effectively marginalized White Christians, they’re all basically goofy Christian Evangelical extremists, don’t pay attention to them.
I doubt the Caucasian Christians will express any concern publicly about the new head chaplain. They’ll get cancel cultured.
Your perfect example of a crypto jew…..they’re so confident of their power that they can pull a stunt like this and not worry about possible repercussions…..
The problem with atheism is the same problem as with the bible belt ignoramus spammers. “God” is not a matter of “existing” or “not existing” but one of definition. If someone professing “atheism” is confronted with “what sort of ‘God’ they don’t believe in” they have to give a definition of that which they don’t believe in. Problem is, everyone has a different conception of “God” from a Zeus like cloud dwelling figure to a sublime sum total of physical and energetic realities that still await further comprehension.
So. I believe atheism itself is oxymoronic.
His philosophical position is impossible–you cannot combine religions and humanism, but our culture transitions from many religions to “science”, where the researchers use only a small part of our monitoring powers, so being very vague is permitted today. Treating all the religious as humans is a lazy solution.
to the jewish decomposition of nations
they are even able to produce atheists
to lure the goyim like homosexuality +
all kinds of perversion . its game of
satan and they are his children !
“His appointment comes as young people in the United States increasingly identify as woke and without a religious affiliation.”
I wonder who appointed him?
And I wonder who is responsible for all the Godless and all the wokeness?
Its all an act by this Rabbi. In secret, don’t be surprised if it reads its Torah/Talmud & follows the instructions of Yahweh/Adonay to divide & conquer the white goyim..
Article states: “…what it means to be a good human & live an ethical life.” Yeah, only according to their Jewish ideals, archetypes & ethics though. These mongrel rats tell YOU what you must be, to be a ‘good human & live an ethical life’ (egalitarianism, cosmopolitanism, Christianity, miscegenation, individualism, atheism etc..)
A Jew picked to head a christian university is no surprise, they have taken over everything else. It doesn’t matter that he is an atheist, the only thing that matters is that he is a Jew.
If Harvard was created by Puritans, why don’t the Christians get uncucked to Jewry and write a bylaw prohibiting any non-Christian from being elected or hired?
Simple. Just exclude the Jew as you would the plague.
I had to laugh when I read this one. I also had to check it wasn’t sourced from a satirical “news” site like The Onion or Babylon Bee. It’s no surprise seeing we are in a dystopian Orwellian opposite world now.
I’m afraid Nico X is probably correct in his astute comment above.
he’s not an atheist, he’s a jew.
All he needs is a near death experience, but he’d lose his novelty appeal to the rest of the antediluvians who think Harvard is their Mt. Olympus.
The definition of a chaplain has changed. “Chaplain” used to describe a Christian clergyman who was attached to a chapel, a place for service, prayer and hymn for communities within institutions, such as schools, regimental bases, mission and alms houses, orphanages, stately homes with staff in residence etc
A chaplain’s advocacy of christianity is no longer required, it has somewhere been decided, it seems. Among the priests, pastors and ministers, nowadays also passing for chaplains are rabbis, imams, gurus and most likely an auditor or two from the church of scientology.
I don’t know when chaplains changed or even if it’s an exclusively American development.
Whichever religion a chaplain espouses, however, the appointment of a humanist as chaplain to Harvard University is stretching parameters of thisness beyond maximal tolerance. I expect a loud snap when the defining quality; the essence of being a chaplain is given to include the quality of not being a chaplain.
Humanism is necessarily atheistical and is inherently antagonistic to religious ministry. The new Harvard chaplain, by any consistency of ethical standard, should have declined the offer of chaplaincy.
The meanings of commonly used words can nuance spectrally, without the core definition adjusting. Completely new meaning attaching to familiar words can arise organically and spread without agency. This tends to source locally, in neighbourhoods or even schoolyards. Sometimes an individual can popularize a novel meaning which endures, particularly via songs and slogans. Academics more usually document these changes. Yet, at Harvard, they’re interpolating addenda to dictionary definitions unilaterally. This is prescriptive change and Harvard has no authority to haughtily manipulate language to better attend to zeitgeist.
How can inclusivity ever provide defining parameters? Meaning has to have consensual value. It is not the prerogative of ideology to alter language. Harvard’s obsequity before its moneyed patrons in kippahs is academy’s shame. It’s the surrender of critical scholardhip to religious zealotry. We know these patrons; we are familiar to their wiles and understand that, by their protocols, they seek purposedly to confound and confuse gentile sensibilities so profoundly that all sense of cohesiveness engendered of shared cultural values and a unitary language is lost and cannot be remodelled back.
It’s a bit like a vast jigsaw where every piece of the puzzle hails from a different vast jigsaw puzzle, each bearing a completely distinct image. Even my zen-jigsaw auntie would accede to the utter pointlessness of such investiture in incoherence.
Exactly as predicted in the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion.
Phew!… I’m relieved to see that this is all just part of rolling with the times, and doesn’t have a sinister broader agenda written all over it.
P.S. In my work for a top-tier global business school, I come across individuals from this tribe all the time. They drop the ball whenever they like; join one call with a client, then ‘send their apologies’ from there on out; rope you in because of an approaching deadline, then totally ignore the deadline like nothing ever happened; tell you that stuff has been taken care of when it hasn’t; etc. etc. They can get away with murder and they know it.
Slowly but surely, the scenario predicted by the Fatima prophecy of 1917 is unfolding before our very eyes. I myself never imagined that the “errors of Russia” would spread to the United States under the guise of “political correctness”, but it’s happened. The neo-Bolsheviks have even succeeded in hijacking the American presidency!
Only this prayer will bring lasting peace:
“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father, send now Your Spirit over the earth.
Let the Holy Spirit live in the hearts of all nations, that they may be preserved from degeneration, disaster and war.
May the Lady of All Nations, who once was Mary, be our Advocate.
Amen.”
FYI: exactly ten years before communism came to an end in Eastern Europe in 1989, Pope John-Paul II made the following invocation during an outdoor Mass in Warsaw (June 2nd 1979):
“And I cry — I who am a Son of the land of Poland and who am also Pope John Paul II — I cry from all the depths of this Millennium, I cry on the vigil of Pentecost:
Let your Spirit descend.
Let your Spirit descend,
and renew the face of the earth,
the face of this land.
Amen.”
It is more and more normal for people in England to have a “humanist” funeral, but it never meant anything. “We believe in humans” is a tautology, like if mice said they were mousist. The other tautology is racism. You advocate for your Race by being it, which is how it is possible for all Whites to be racist (but, as an aggressive selectiveness, it is said to be impossible for anyone else).
This lad would be needed in Israel far more that in the USA
When two men who are completely different to one and other in every possible regard, meet by chance on holiday – is it synchronicity? Should bi-polar pie-charts be sectioned? When a man unconsciously stammers as he is about to speak a tautology and simultaneously experiences deja-vu, is he repeating what he hasn’t said yet, again?
There are many similarly teasing conundrums to delight the enthusiastic riddler in the 1950’s best-seller, “The Pauper’s Book Of Penny Aphorisms: Koanic Health For Poor People For Just One Pence” (which I haven’t written yet.) Without tautology the aphoristic store thins. The Bodhi tree is doubly of itself as singular principal.
Binary notation is a secondary faceting of digital tautology, squared by two in pairs, a couple of times over, twice.
To andyay–the only option here is to complicate it further, more worser, even more, and morer, but there are people listening.
