similar ruse saying hotels will not accommodate the quarantined, much better to have lockdown

Collective retribution is discussed a lot in the Bible. “The Major Prophets” do not like it as much as the others do. “A man will eat a lemon and his sons’ teeth will be set on edge” and Can the sins of the fathers be laid at the feet of the sons? are the modes of discussion. Christians said No to that, but in practise the ideal has been ignored much of the time. The lemon story is meant to show how easily God remembers a sin and punishes descendants. It just means the writers are very vindictive. Bible readers resonate with them, and fear what they will be like without psychological restraint.
