During the second part of the 90s, Aaliyah was a gigantic star who sold tens of millions of records worldwide and starred in blockbuster movies such as Romeo Must Die. On August 25th, 2001, Aaliyah died in a plane crash at the young age of 22. The tragic event sent shockwaves throughout the world as her legions of fans could believe that R&B had lost its “baby girl”.
Here’s a quick recap of what happened: After filming the music video Rock the Boat in the Bahamas, Aaliyah boarded a 10-seat twin-engine Cessna 402B private jet bound for Opa-Locka, Florida along with seven members of her crew. Less than a minute after takeoff, the jet fell from the sky and plummeted to the ground just 200 feet from the runway. Aaliyah was one of six passengers who died at the scene, while three others died a few hours later.
A few years after the crash, the National Transportation Safety Board launched an investigation that revealed several irregularities. First, the plane was severely overweight, to the point that the trip was nearly suicidal. Second, the pilot, Luis Morales III did not have the certifications to fly this aircraft. Furthermore, the pilot was previously charged with a drug offense in the US, and an autopsy found he had cocaine and alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.
But out of all the reports, it was one in particular that people latched onto which claimed the deceased pilot, Luis Morales, had traces of cocaine and alcohol in his system as per his autopsy, received probation for crack cocaine possession less than two weeks prior to the flight and was not certified to fly the plane Aaliyah was on. Had Morales informed aviation officials of the case within 60 days as per FAA guidelines, his license would have most likely been revoked. The FAA license he did obtain, he received by showing flights he had never actually flown.
The plane itself had been cited four times in the four years before the fatal crash, including once for a safety violation. Other reports pointed to there being too many people as well as excess baggage on board, which fellow pilot Lewis Key would later confirm to be true. Key also told The New York Post that Morales had trouble getting one of the engines started. The tabloid further reported that Morales and Aaliyah’s crew got into a heated debate prior to takeoff over the excess weight, but ultimately went ahead with the flight anyway.

These bizarre details regarding the plane crash lead some to ask: How could one of the world’s biggest stars be put through such a precarious situation?
There have been few explanations for why the plane was ever allowed off the ground in the first place. Arguments had broken out between Aaliyah’s entourage and the pilot over the plane being overweight. After the crash, it was quickly confirmed that the small twin-engine plane exceeded its maximum weight limit by several hundred pounds. Plus, the weight was not evenly distributed, which would have made the plane harder to control once it got into the air. The last significant update came in 2002, when a toxicology report found that the inexperienced pilot had cocaine and alcohol in his system.
(…) Why would Aaliyah, a known anxious flier, be so insistent on getting on this small plane when it was clearly overloaded with baggage, especially when there was a chartered plane set to pick her up the next day?
– Daily Beast, New Book’s Shock Claim: Aaliyah Was Drugged Before Her Fatal Plane Crash
A new book about Aaliyah adds to the suspicions regarding her death. According to the biography Baby Girl: Better Known as Aaliyah, the singer refused to board the plane. Then, she was given a sleeping pill and was carried into the plane while fast asleep.

I’ve never heard of the singer or the crash, but I’d like to pick up on a minor, but irritating error in the text.
It seems EVERY light aircraft is referred to nowadays as a “private JET”, whatever it’s means of propulsion, and imho this gives a completely false impression when something goes wrong.
The Cessna 402 is NOT jet propelled, but is powered by two Continental TSIO-520 PISTON ENGINES. It is NOT a “jet”, and should not be referred to as such.
My apologies to VC if this detracts from the article, but this kind of error is so pervasive, and so irritating to those who understand the difference, that I felt I had to say something.

Never heard of her. Perhaps I’m doing something right…
Since all publishing is in the hands of jewish publishing houses, there is only one reason this got into print: DIS-information for the goyim.
jfc…..I opened this and thought it was my ‘ex. Nice 6am heart-stop
Beyonce needs to return that straight blonde hair to its rightful owners. “Cultural appropriation’s okay when WE do it”, to adopt a PJW phrase.
I wonder how many insurances policies were taken out on her and who held those policies before she was offered up on their Satanic alter.
Tony O’NeilL: You say: “Since all publishing is in the hands of jewish publishing houses, there is only one reason this got into print: DIS-information for the goyim.”
Then how did YOU get here?

I noticed they put in that she was “18” a couple times relatively close together. 1’s and 8’s, CHAI! Someone must have saw her and figured it out, so they had to come up with this fabrication. This sounds like the “cover” documentary, “Let Him Be”, about the John Lennon “impersonator” playing music in Canada in the late 2000’s. If you read Miles Mathis’s EXCELLENT article about it, you learn that it was made because people were starting to realize that it was John Lennon, and the PHOENICAN PEERAGE JEWS had to try to COVER THEIR LIE! The article will open your eyes even more to their LIES!!
@R.C. My apologies Sir, l was referring to print publishing.
My condolences for the early death of a young talented aspiring singer and the others that occurred 20 years ago. I gather that given the circumstances, a lot can be read into the causes of death, whether accidental or purposely perpetrated.
One thing that I do see is a rogue pilot not much different than Lt. Col. Arthur “Bud” Holland, who repeatedly violated appropriate practices and published aviation standards created a similar tragedy.
On the eve of retirement in June 1994 at Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane, Washington, US, Holland crashed a US Air Force B-52 by exceeding manufacturer warnings on flight envelope limits resulting in an unrecoverable stall, taking with him the lives of three other senior officers also nearing retirement.
Considering other crashes to include Holland’s, I don’t think the hidden hand was necessarily involved. However, given the circumstances revealed in the article, such as disrespect for equipment ratings under given weather conditions, failure to ground equipment when engine problems arose, gross disrespect for governing protocols for safe operation, operating equipment while not sober, etc. These, one could conceive to be Satanically inspired in nature.
Reason why I don’t think death was intended is the bottom line is more often than not, money. I may be wrong, but I gather that returning artists can bring in more money alive than dead, for example, Tommy James (The Shondells) and Joan Jett’s later remake of Crimson and Clover.
Again I could be wrong, but I think it was a combination of poor planning, selection of the wrong air service/air crew, and haste (they could have off loaded some of the equipment / clothing and had it air freighted, 300 lbs. is not that much) that led to the unfortunate deaths.
